March 28 - The Long Way Home

We are at the Colombo Airport and waiting for our flight to Hong Kong. We leave at 7:20am. A long wait this morning. A chance for some last minute shopping to use up any left over Sri Lankan Rupees. Today is a long travel day back home. We are all looking forward to returning home but we are also sad to be leaving Sri Lanka. Yesterday was a fun day with ...

Now don't get me wrong, this is a lovely place in a lovely location with a lovely beach, the town is just a 20 minutes stroll. Apart from this there is very little to do. Gone are the days when laying on the beach all day was an option, although most holidaymakers here seem to do it. ... and watching the sunset. It was really beautiful.

Since we split lunch 6 hours ago it was time to eat so we walked north to see what the street vendors had to offer. It was all pretty much repeats so we went back to what looked to be the busiest (that means it's the best right?!) and ordered. I had the fried chicken kothu, Rick had another chicken schwarma, and one plain naan, one cheesy naan. Delicious! I would definitely reorder mine! They sat us with another English ...

... off, suffice to say I had to protect myself and swiftly dispatched him with a half empty plastic water bottle, I know! It was him or me!

Well we are on the last leg of the trip and heading to the Cinnamon Red hotel in Colombo for 3 nights with the last game on Tuesday (day/night), we have an early start on Wednesday as we are on the 10.30 out of Colombo for Dubai, due in Birmingham at 18.35, just time to pop up pub and see some ...
