The path was nice and easy, with some 3-5m drops here and there (not too bad) and passed through a couple of long tunnels. Good thing we did as the guide book recommended and brought torches, because they are low ceilinged and dark. One were rather wet, and had puddles on the floor, so our sandaled feet got wet and a bit muddy.

... to Madeira especially ordered for Mary and we arrived at Quinta de Lorde at 1400 hrs.
We had a bit of a mishap coming into our berth,I think it was a matter of too many chiefs but lucky enough the guy in the dingy saved the day.
It was a fine marina with a purpose built town around it.Unfortunetly the town was deserted and never finished

... after you drive your car up, and I thought, this is going to be a doddle.

Once parked, we hit the track. It was pretty fresh, but we were the only ones on the track. The views were great and there was no clouds, and after 90 minutes, we were at the top of Pico Ruivo, the only ones there. It was nice being up there alone, but once the crowds started arriving, we ****** off back down, well only a little way as we now had to walk ...

Recife Blog Great excitement as we arrived, but were a little shocked at the poverty near the docks and town we were taken to. The gift shops were situated in an old prison and each sell had a shop in. Very dark and dismal and needless to say we left as quickly as possible.
