Beijing Part Deux
... s eye, we see the photo of the lone man standing in front of the tank. We recall reading the descriptions of the Square and the government’s stoic and violent reaction to the 1989 protests in A Heart for Freedom by Chai Ling, one of the student leaders of the demonstrations. We are ready to walk on this historic square and soak in the history. Nothing can prepare us for the sheer size of the Square. At 108 acres, Tiananmen Square is one of ...
Day 2
Early start for our little tour group this morning. 6:30 buffet breakfast and 7:00 on the bus, bound for the bucket list item, "The Great Wall". It's about a 2 hour drive from Beijing to the wall via a Jade carving factory, jade tour was a great thing, one of those classic moments happened for me. Steve and Shefali took a toboggan down from the top of the wall, while sissy Debbie opted for the chair lift with the tour guide. It was a pretty amazing day, even though we had a mini ...

Siinäpä se päivä olikin ja oli aika suunnata unten maille. Majapaikan luonteesta (historiallisella hutong-alueella sijaitseva mesta) johtuen ei eristeitä seinissä juuri liene joten huoneessa oli melko viileetä. Mitäpä me noista, ollaan nukuttu pahemmissakin paikoissa!
Retkikunta kiittää ja ...
