... in Arugam, me and Jerome went to watch Elephants with a local tuc tuc and rented motorbikes to go and explore some of the temples around the town. A couple of us had a cooking class with chef Shiva at Arugam cooking school he taught us how to make a chicken coconut curry and several side dishes, I would really recommend this, the food was great and the night was a lot of fun. From Arugam I and Jerome had a 3 hour tuc tuc ride to the amazing hill country village, Ella. We had ...

... a little hike up to Mahaseya dogoba (a Buddhist shrine) where you can see spires of the dagobas in the ancient city of Anuradhapura in the distance. And all of this barefoot - maybe that's why I liked it so much! Everywhere we go there are mischievous monkeys - mostly in the dagobas stealing the food offerings for Buddha!! Again, could sit for hours watching them play, eat and fight. They certainly are entertaining and I definitely know where the saying 'cheeky monkey' ...

... had the noisiest trains going through... It seems that beeping horns randomly on any form of transport is the done thing.

We ventured to Frankie and Bennys for dinner feeling like terrible travellers but were too tired to care. Everyone we passed on the street says hi which makes you realise how unfriendly us Brits can be! The pavements are currently being rebuilt for he common wealth so there literally holes in ...
