... Misschien is het echt geen slecht idee om op zo'n mooie vrachtwagen mee te rijden. The trains who are rumbling by less than 50m from our room, between us and the Indian Ocean, are packed until the roof. People are hanging out of the train through windows and doors. This looks very promising for the day after tomorrow! Maybe taking a beautiful truck isn't such a bad idea after all. Ons eerste 'hotel' is amper de naam hotel waardig en zeker de naam Ocean ...

    Random night in Colombo

... We decided that we would go out, so started off in a fairly expensive lounge which did have an amazing view and also some food so at least I could have some potatoe wedges, next we moved onto more of a pub place, before having a look around the outside of the lighthouse, as you do. ... seen anywhere. I shall try to take a video at some point to share it with you.

A fellow passenger kindly showed me where to get off and as soon as I stepped down from the bus, the hassle began. The hassle I refer to is the drivers of tuk-tuks, auto rickshaws, auto trishaws or whatever you care to call them. You literally cannot walk ten feet here without them sounding their horn or shouting at you. It really does become ...

... in the eighteenth century by the Dutch. You really get a sense of the place, what it must have been like as a hospital. We returned here to have dinner at the Ministry of Crab. This place is legendary. If you visit Sri Lanka, you really should take this in! We left Colombo at midnight. One colleague was going on to Chin the following week, so he was able to go up to the elephant orphanage on Saturday. I really need to return so I can do the ...
