... out where I want to go this fall/winter?!?! I also got another change to my schedule this week. One of the other new teachers didn't make it through her probation period and was let go this week, meaning I am taking one of her classes. I will now be teaching 2 different 3rd grade classes my regular 3rd graders and then also an accelerated 3rd grade class. It is nice that they are both 3rd grade so all the curriculum will be the same. Since I got this new class I spent all day ...
Taichung, Taiwan ashleysblogThis weekend I was so excited to get out of the city! I was ready to go and see some more of Taiwan. We decided to just open up our Rough Guide to Taiwan book and pick a place. We thought Lions Head Mountain area sounded like a good pick. Myself and 4 other teachers packed up on Sa***************ed out for a day of hiking. We first had to take the high speed rail. High speed rails are great! I have also taken the one in Spain. Traveling is so easy on them ...
Taichung, Taiwan ashleysblog... it has been a pretty lazy weekend. With all the rain you don't really want to go out and do anything.
Well I am hoping that the rain will let up a little bit this week. I will be getting paid on Monday so I will finally have money to go out and do some more exploring!!
Until later....love ya and miss ya!
Oh and one little factoid.....in Taiwan they celebrate Father's Day on August 8th, so Happy Taiwanese Father's Day to all the dads!
... day trips with Joanne and Donnie, (wouldn’t have been the same with out you guys!). Ben has completed his packing duties and is waiting for me to help him make our most important decision of the day. Wish us luck in our new venture! Love, Tania

4) There is no road rage, unless it is a foreigner. They are all about keeping face so they don't want to be seen losing their cool. They use their horns a lot but it is just to let other cars know of their presence.
5) They are very hard workers! Our Chinese staff works a lot more days than us. In general if they have a weekday off for a holiday they will make up that day on a Saturday. A ...
... I am convinced they were not being nosey. I think they just wanted to hear if other parents had the same concerns and wanted to save time so Sandy would not have to translate the same answer numerous times. Parent questions were just like those in the United States. Here is a list of the questions that I answered: "How is my child behaving in your class?" "How can we improve their test scores?" "Is my ...

The school even wrote about it on their Chinese blog. Just click right here to read it. It was translated by a Google or Yahoo program, so obviously the translation is going to be less than stellar. However, it does have photographs and is a rather interesting read.

However, when he returns to the Far East, he will not be continuing his career as a teacher at Cornel. Rather, he will be living in a monastery in Thailand where he will be studying to become a Buddhist monk. It has definitely been a first to have a roommate who devotes time each day to meditation. Eric (my other summer roommate), Cullum, myself ...

Arrive early if you want to see a popular movie, or you could be in the front row. 6) The previews and the film itself are in English. However, there are Chinese subtitles that are shown throughout the film. The subtitles are rather accurate, as those in attendance laughed at the jokes at the same time we were. You do not notice the subtitles as much as you would ...
Taichung, Taiwan scotsblog... absolutely loved it and were squealing with delight as they all lined up for a turn, while the chaperones were about to vomit. What made the experience even more revolting was that the kids came out of the barn soaked in goat milk from head to toe. We then went back into his restaurant where he (and I am completely serious) gave us all goat milk popsicles and sent us on our way. It was the most...ummm...unique field trip I have ever been on.
