Just wanted to write a short entry on the insanity of the journey from Chiang Mai to the beach. We first planned to take an overnight bus to Bangkok from Chiang Mai as soon as we got back from the park on Sunday. Some of the girls in the group wanted to meet for drinks in Chiang Mai Sunday night to unwind and say a final goodbye after our week at the park. On se souviendra également de la tête de Rémi qui en allant se coucher réalisa qu'une grosse arraigné s'était infiltrée dans sa moustiquaire. ... caused much amusement by telling the driver he wanted to go to 'phi phi hotel' (wrong hotel, wrong island). We're not sure what happened to him and his mate as we were dropped off first. Judging by the look of the cab driver, I suspect he would have thrown them out somewhere in the middle of Ko Samui and would have just driven off. 40 mins later, we were finally checked into our hotel and in search of a well earned drink.

I guess it is low season for a reason in Thailand. After a week of sunny skies, the rain came pouring down during my trip from Samui to Bangkok. This would not have been a big deal if the ride was smooth, but it was not, and I both my belongings and myself ended up soaking wet. The trip north was probably the least pleasant of any of my journey thus far. I had been warned about overnight buses, where rerouting, layovers, lost luggage, and theft ...

I enquired as to how Saddam came about his name as it implies hes a right nasty git (he isnt!) but apparently "Black Dog" in Thai is "Ma Dam". As hes a boy and so not to confuse him with his sexuality, rather than call him Madam they settled on Saddam, so there you go! The 2 pugs are the cutest and most placid dogs ...

... bag, all is well and good, clever me :o) We get a boat back to camp, in the rain and its fine, then I run with it to my room, still all ok. Aswe're soaking wet, and living on a lake (il get back to this) we decide to go for a swim, and the water is gorgeously warm, and the setting is beautiful. As its so gorgeous I decide to take a photo, so I get out, dry my hands, and stand outside our hut, BUT under the overhanging roof and take a photo - whats wrong with that ...
