After breakfast, (Grace and Carroll stayed at the hotel too),we had a tour of downtown St Paul - this is one side of the river, and Minneapolis is the other side, they are locally called the twin cities. Looked at the University and city buildings, then stopped at the Capitol -Where the senate, the house of representatives and supreme court are. Very ornate inside with marble columns and stair cases. Headed for first campsite Nerstrand Big Woods-- last of huge woods (Grand Bois) that used to cover Eastern Minnesota. This is just (about 10-20 miles) East of where glacier stopped, so rugged terrain formed by runoff water. Very very hot -- into 90's, maybe 94 -- and near 100% humidity. Pitched tent and dripping with sweat -- so went for 1 mile walk to 'hidden waterfall' which was very mosquito-filled walk. Back to campsite and lots of ...
