Watching the old lady feed and cuddle the dogs for a while distracted me from the fact that no one was coming out of the Acropolis entrance and that Gemma would be exiting from the other side. We had agreed that if I wasn’t at the entrance Gemma would meet me at the hostel so I quickly started to make my way back, meeting a very flustered Gemma halfway back.

... us think that from Athens we're going to head into Turkey via Ferry. It'll be an 11 our ferry ride. For the meantime, we've got off in Patras and are waiting for the Bus to Athens. We were going to go by train but the word on the street is that there's so many strikes now, it's better not to rely on them running.

... A few minutes before the departure I walked over and bought my tickets then went and sat in the middle of the 3 carriage train. The driver walked over and beckoned to me to follow him. He pointed to the front carriage and so I sat myself down there, which admittedly had better viewing windows. An early start today as we were at Katakolon for a trip to Olympia where the Olympic games started around the 8th century BC as a sacred devotion to Zeus.

A quick early breakfast and then onto the tour bus for a drive of about 30 minutes inland. It was hot and sunny, 30 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. ... to put cases in the aisle to get them all on and the aircon could barely cope but we hit the road and the elderly driver put the foot down!
