Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands bogna... wifi access I was using. Our condo unit was just out of range of a neighboring wifi shop so to get proper signal strength I had to sit on the tile floor behind the wall of the outdoor cafe - not very comfortable.... For the evening, we watched our final sunset with our favourite glass of wine - Jaume Serra Cabinet Sauvignon - Roble 2005 from Spain. ($4.40 E - I'll have to check back home if it's available). John, Dale and I went to Corinto, a restaurant we had visited ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... because we of course had to stop at a little town for the 'opportunity' to buy local crafts/souvenirs. The tour included a guide who spoke German and English (no Spanish!?) The tour guide sounded like Steven Hawking with a German accent! In a word, he was terrible as we could barely understand him and he seemed so bored and uninterested in what he was reciting. We did learn that the 'Canarian potatoes' are prepared by cooking in sea water which ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... homemade tapas, we had our John's coconut shrimp, Andy's Cesear salad, 'croquettes' (frozen from supermarket, cooked on stove), bread and cheese, prosciutto and ham, olives and finally, red wine. It was very good and much easier then trying to figure out which restaurant to go to! Afterwards, we played Kaiser again (and drank a wonderful Spanish bottle of cabernet wine) and as usually, John and Andy kicked our butt
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... it was only halk cooked) at a cafe. You win some, you lose some. We watched some surfers along the Los Americanos beach. They are always amazing to watch (and the ocean feels so cold!). The wetsuits must help. For dinner, John and Dale made a wonderful coconut shrimp dinner with vegetables and rice. The shrimp was freash from the supermarket. The 2 bottles of wine and sitting ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... a cheap Chinese buffet restuarant. It was only 6.75E. The best part was the coconut ice cream. One annoying feature of the boardwalk is that each restuarant has a 'hawker' outside of it trying to get you to eat there. You have to just ignore them. There are alot of British tourists here and it doesn't feel very Spanish in this part of the island. On Wednesday, Andy and I went exploring along the boardwalk. It was partly sunny and warm - it feels great to ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... older than my tender years and that either their eyesight or their judgement was impaired, oh well it was good while it lasted. I was surprised that most people we met so far thought that as we were so young we must have won the lottery to be able to retire and take the whole 3 month voyage, the thought that I might have actually worked for it and just looked naturally young (ha ha) never seemed to cross their mind so we just let them continue ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands easygeezeToday is our last full day in Tenerife. We woke up looked out at the calm ocean and decided to say good-bye to the whales of the Canaries. We arrived in Los Gigantes in good time and had enough time to enjoy walking the pier and enjoying the view. As I was watching the mullet fish swim back and forth, the fish went into a bit of a frenzy, jumping clear of the water. I looked about and spotted what sent them into chaos ... it was a VERY large barracuda ...
Adeje, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands hvbaskeyEarly this morning we get the ferry from San Sebastian to Los Christianos. Once again we feel a strong urge to leave as quickly as possible, so navigate our way out of the city and on to a small road which leads over the hills to the north of Tenerife. The first few hours are spent in a long hot 14km climb out of L C, till we stop for lunch at a high point about 600m with views out over massive stretches of coast. We are still not far from ...
