New apartment

Here is my apartment, it's not so good. The appearance is mediocre, but the rest is a shambles.

Everything is broken, the washing machine and air conditioning don't work. My bed is DISGUSTING. With stains on the mattress and a U shaped indentation from years of use. It is also just lying on the floor. I can't believe that someone looked at this mattress and simply put a sheet on it and expected me to sleep on it.

As I was thinking these thoughts, a lady approached me and asked if I would be willing to be interviewed as part of a research she was doing on tourism in Jakarta. I was rather amused at her evident thrill at my saying yes. Apparently it is very difficult to get Asians to be interviewed. She peppered me ...

The heart of Java- a city for the young

... the end of their night.

When we arrived at my actual hotel, it was a pretty nice place and also after midnight. The next morning I went for breakfast and met up with a scotsman named George, who was to share my room. In my groggy state, I didn't catch what greeting he said to me and thought he was speaking french. Apologizing for having bad french, I quickly realized he was, in fact, scottish. Apologizing again (very Canadian, eh?) we got off to ...
