Day 2 we had planned to visit the Vatican city and the surrounds. We worked out the trams and the metro and we were on our way. Walked a fair way, got excited when I found a machine that dispensed Lavazzo Italian coffee in a take away cup. I have learned that coffee is to be savoured in Italy, and is not generally served in a take away cup, even in …
Up bright and early and organising the day. Our first day in Rome and so much to see and do. Ventured into the whole brekkie thing with the group tours, and then walked to the tram stop. We didn't try to drive into the city of Rome, for obvious reasons, just a bit too stressful with the traffic.
We sorted out the trams would take us right …
We left Naxos airport bright and early. Then flew airItalia to Rome. this was quite a big day spent at various airports due to connecting flights etc. The flight from Naxos to Athens was quite good, even though it was a smaller plane and we shared it with a couple of dogs, yes, actually in the cabin with us. We stayed at this hotel as we had a car and needed parking space, and were not keen to drive into the city of Rome. The hotel has great amenities, including the great coffee that can be purchased from the bar in the lobby. We found everything we needed, including a supermarket close by. The district is a fair way out of town, and on approach doesn't look the best, but give it a go, you will be pleasantly surprised. We were very pleased with the GP, and the breakfast buffet was pretty good too.
