Friends don't let friends drink starbucks

... the city is actally full of fairly large churches but they are all dwarfed by the Dom. After some pictures and rest we headed back down. We passed lots of boys trying to sprint up the stairs with Mom and Dad yelling from behind. We walked along the Rhine river for a while and then realized we were starving. We agreed that Subway wouldn't work since we eat that about once a week at home. Luckily there was one of those little bakeries they ...

Hello!

So for two weekends in a row, my plans have not worked out exactly as I had hoped. That has only made me more determined to come back again and see Europe! It is unfortunate that I won't go over the border in my 2 months here. I will only set foot in another country on my way home when I stop over in Vienna and Singapore on ...

... approach... Scotty, can u take me to the ballet in Melbourne some time?

In the middle of the night last night I got a phone call on my mobile. It has happened 4 times whilst I have been here, however this time I answered it. There was someone speaking in English asking me questions and I was so tired and I was answering in German... They asked if Janine was there and I was like, 'Nein, ich heisse Sarah' and then they said 'Oh, Sarah McDonald?' And I answered 'Ja' and ...

It has officially turned into Winter

Hello everyone in the warm country back home.

It is now officially Winter. Yesterday the highest temperature was -3 and today on the way to Uni it snowed! Only slightly, but never the less, there was snow. This weekend it is supposed to snow quite a lot. I am looking forward to it. I will be in Lauterbach, Wurzburg and Rothenburg, and all will look so romantic covered in white. My teacher warned me that if the snow persists, I will have to ...

Sunday at the Opera

Hello!

Sorry that it has taken so long to tell u about my weekend. Usually I would only write one email... but I am always running off to class or to have lunch.
So I left u Saturday night and I got home at midnight. The most wonderful thing about the whole weekend was the fact that I didn't have an excursion Sunday and was able to sleep for over 12 hours!!

When I finally decided to get up I read a bit of my German teen novel ...

What happened Saturday?

... there had white hair and looked at us disapprovingly. The only 'young people' were couples of aybe 30 or 40 who were obviously there on dates and some of those ladies wore exquisite ball gowns. Guess what I was wearing...sneakers, jeans and a jumper!! Ooops!

La Boheme was really good. It helped to have the storyline of Rent in my head as we went. Some parts were a little confusing. The sets were amazing, costumes very simple for the artists and ...

Post Hurrikan und alles ist Gut

... for their freedom, longing to be outside and know what was happening. The TV wasn't working, a static screen unable to abate our curiosity. One laptop managed to connect to the internet but took 15 minutes to download the German news page. "was ist passiert" ask the students. They crowd around the screen, brows furrowed as they translate the German text into their own language. 8 people have been killed in Germany during the hurricane. It has ...

My not so crazy weekend

... We discussed the WiWi party that was on that night. (WiWi stands for Wirtschaft wissenschaft, in other words business studies, a faculty at uni) I went back to my room and wrote out all of my Backbeat lines, cleaned up a bit and then dressed up to go out to the party.
The party was in a big building at the uni and was great. Entrance was 4€ ($8), and the best thing was that it was sponsored by Southern Comfort, one of my favourite drinks! There were many different kinds of ...

Back home!

... sleep though most of the 5 hours there and on the plane, so we felt quite fit when we landed in Duesseldorf Monday morning. Miriam was picked upt by Antonio while I took the train straight to work. Probably wasn't the most productive employee that day, but it was enough to get through my mails and update on the latest "strategies" and office gossip. So, in a bit more than a year, I'll be back to Thailand, insch'Allah, with Thomas. I had kept thinking about that all the time "Next year, we ...
