After a wild and eventful adventure across the Indian Ocean Basin too breathtaking to capture fully in words, it's difficult to believe that this expedition has come to a complete halt. If only summer lasted forever so that I could continue to expand upon my knowledge of the region back then! The year 1392 seems so much more fascinating than 3619, even without the modern technology we have in this day and ...

I still cannot believe how quickly time has flown by, especially with each day being packed with new things to explore and discover, but I am now in Canton, the last stop in our journey through the past. Because Nathan had gone off in the dhow, we did not travel together this time, but we had scheduled a meeting place and time in Canton prior to his wild run to the boats. With African fabrics, and Indian spices, Sri Lankan tokens and bobbles, and a small Chinese porcelain vase in a crate I found my way back to my home and family, honored to have taken apart in a venture so grand and ostentatious. It was an experience I wouldn’t have traded for every finery I’d seen on my trip combined. ...

... We at first tried to go to the Canton Fair, but it ended up being
this business import, export showing. We then headed to the Canton Tower, the
tallest building in all of Guangdong, but were underwhelmed by the architecture.
So we just wandered around till night fell and took the nearest boat for a
    ride.

Unfortunately for us, the boat had no booze, and took us
officially to the middle of nowhere. I think I can speak for all three of us ...

... quite talkative too. They weren't hesitant in telling us the massage business. For every customer that comes through the door, they get only 12 yuan out of the 30 yuan the company charges its customer. If there are no customers, they don't get pay. On average, there are 30 masseurs waiting in queue for the next customer at a time. They work 12 hour shifts and a typical day will net them 3 or 4 customers. Ok, let's pull out the old rusty calculator. If we look at ...
