What a magic day. In the morning we made fresh tracks through powder knee deep, which was magic. Later we did some off piste skiing through waist deep powder which was fun but tricky. ... Mountain, stopping for lunch at the Ninguru Cafe. It is a small hideway literally in the office, off the road. Thankfully for GPS or we would have easily missed the small sign pointing us to the road to the cafe. The food was average but I would rate it high as an experience that should not be missed. But do so only if you are not short on time. It is definitely not a 30 minute pit stop kind of deal.

Started driving from Asahikawa. OUr first stop was Flowerland. It was drizzling when we reached flower land so we took the tractor ride - 300 yen per person. Overpriced for a relatively small flower farm. But it suited us since it was drizzling and we did not want to walk around the flower farm in the rain. Visited the town of Biei. Tracked down the famous tree and the less famous blue pond. The scenery was indeed somewhat photogenic. But if you only had one day, I would still recommend to head straight for Furano and bypass Biei. In fact, it is a ...
