We dropped of Hiroto back at the hostel and we headed back to Obihiro again. The weather looks threatening and Momo's mum called to warn us for the hurricane coming over Hokkaido. The wind was getting stronger and the fog was heavy but it wasn't to bad as we thought it would be. I was so tired after this lovely but intensive weekend that I slept almost right away. I slept like a log that night.
... who stay in the hostel. They are all Japanese except me. Most of them can speak a little English. I talked a bit with Takao a Japanese maths teacher. Japanese people are kind of preserved. They try to keep their life secret for you. So they will do if they didn't hear your question or they try to be very secret about it and talk around it.
And after a nice skype session with my parents it is already bed time. The beds are so soft!
What a magic day. In the morning we made fresh tracks through powder knee deep, which was magic. Later we did some off piste skiing through waist deep powder which was fun but tricky. Fell once, and couldn't get out of the snow to put the skis on! I should precede todays story by telling you about the planning at the tourist information centre.... we approached the lady and asked about going to the snow.....she ummed and ahhhh-ed and said "we haven't realy had any here this year" we explained we were happy to travel somewhere else for the day...she looked at her PC and finally said "OK, so if you catch the train here (circles stop on rail map) and then catch a bus for 30min there will be some ...
... Mountain, stopping for lunch at the Ninguru Cafe. It is a small hideway literally in the office, off the road. Thankfully for GPS or we would have easily missed the small sign pointing us to the road to the cafe. The food was average but I would rate it high as an experience that should not be missed. But do so only if you are not short on time. It is definitely not a 30 minute pit stop kind of deal.
