This week the crew trekked off to Firminy, which is a little French town that's about 3 hours away from our little humble abode. The trip went smoothly, seeing as we travelled together in a giant van, but all in all a nice 6:30am start to the day never hurt anyone. .. I think. What were we doing in Firminy you might ask? Provence was just beautiful and I believe we could easily have spent another week there, leaving more time to just sit and do nothing and take in its charm. If/when we ever come back to Provence (or anywhere in France) Ed vowed to be more diligent about learning the language...definitely comes in handy even more so when you are in the countryside.

... The first was prawns in a sauce with mushrooms; the second a filet of beef with mushrooms, then cheese (of course!) then dessert with a chocolate cake type of item in the shape of a mushroom. We had a bottle of 2009 Gigondas and a bottle of Carianne blanc Cote du Rhone, both of which were very good. A truly superb evening! We agreed this was our best "stumble upon" find so far. ...
