    ... Stews request. I think the scallops, or maybe the wild boar and lemon tart were my favourites! Lemon meringue tart, Chocolate surprise and Tarte Tatin with the richest caramel sauce - also yummmmm. Not sure any of us really appreciated the froi gras that the region is known for! Duck or foie gras was on every menu we looked at in all the little restaurants... those that know me well know that's pretty much the only thing I won't eat! ...

    We are sailing today from Lyon to Tournon, there has been a lot of rain so the Rhone river is on Orange alert, which means that big ships cannot sail. The reason is that the Rhone has several locks, which are really really fascinating. I've never sailed on a boat like this before (not to brag, but I have been assigned the role of ballast on a catamaran previously) so these locks are so great! ...

    Fabulous evening in Avignon and staying right on the square was a wonderful experience. Local revellers where few after the tourists left (we are not tourists, we are deeper than that, and we run). Ran around the walls of the city; Sonja reckons 4 km, I say 3.     ... the Hotel Dieu, which was a hospital built in 1443 by a rich philanthropist to take care of the poor. It was staffed by nuns and later had rooms added to take care of wealthy people to help pay the bills. This hospital ran for 550 years! It closed for good in 1971, when the last patient left.     ... help...gee wiz.. I wonder why...how did she know we were not locals?... She of course had no English and due to Helen's many French lesson and Terry's uncanny natural ability they were able to explain that we were I fact lost and needed a taxi.....taxi? No no no ...but I will take you the 6 km required to get you back on the track. So after much merci, merci merci the four of us with back packs etc squashed into her tiny car and she drove us the required Km's to be again back ...
