... true/false and sign identification part. The test is very poorly translated. Some of the questions you can't even understand what they are asking. And others are just weird questions. You need to get 85% of the questions correct to pass. I ended up passing on my first try of the written test...90%! Five of the six of us passed the written and moved on to the driving part. For the driving test there was a little course you had to pass. You had to drive down a path and ...
Yingge, TW.04, Taiwan ashleysblog... time, I would've gone fully feral and snarled at them and perhaps even mauled them. Two of my ex-co-workers dropped by to see me. Sandy gave me some pearl milk tea (my fave) and Elaine gave me a beautiful crystal/pearl necklace in purple. She's so nice...she remembered that my favorite color is purple. We chatted for a bit and then they headed home. I did a music exchange with Dawn and then prepared for bed. I found a long-ish and semi-comfy couch ...

Taoyuan, Taiwan athenaOn the Sunday that we moved, we found ourselves starving around 8 PM or so. We decided to stop by Pizza Hut and then head over to the dorm to mooch their internet before heading back and spending our first official night in our new place. We arrived at Pizza Hut and I noticed these two foreign guys in line to order their food. They were both good looking, but one stood out more than the other (he had amazing blue eyes, I am such a sucker for ANY man with light-colored eyes...it's my ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... where the hell time went. I wish I had started traveling earlier in my life...I discovered that I really LOVE traveling and experiencing other cultures and it just seems like time is running out and stuff. I would like to return to Canada by 2010 and start looking into a place of my own and a place where I will likely stay put for a while. Anyway...the plan was to go to this popular club in Taipei called Luxy. One of the co-teachers had said she knew a promoter there and ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... Peninsula next time. Maybe also go to see the ruin of Chernobyl Nuclear Planet (Assuming it is safe from radiation of course). If there is enough time, I would also add Moldova (another European country I haven't been to) together with my Ukraine tour plan 3. The Antarctica and Southern Patagonia: Now the Antarctica is the only continent I haven't been to and the easiest place to get there is from Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego in Southern Patagonia. It would be ...
Taipei, Taiwan whk2006... along the local streets, watching the Taiwanese amid their neighbourhoods. Afternoons are rapidly becoming siesta times, especially if night activity is required! The night tour took us to a Mongolian BBQ restaurant for dinner, a stroll through Hwahsi Street Night Market (one of the city's ten night markets), the busy Lungshan temple and Taipei 101 - the world's tallest building. The night market was quieter than I had expected but contained a fascinating mix of food and ...
Taipei, Taiwan jbushie... At the Visitor Center I take a look at the exhibition and the staff offers me water, which I accept happily. It seems to be a never ending road. The kilometer sign beside the road only make my slow progress more obvious. I walk at a speed of 4km/hour up and 6 km/hour straight/slightly down. Great vistas on the surrounding mountains as I get higher. I pass by a road construction work where workers are hanging dangerously on ropes in the wall, take a ...
Taiping Shan, Taiwan kurtmultOk so the japanese took over a lot of taiwan and china in their imperialist campaing during WW11. This base was where the kamikaze pilots came and drank "emperor's heavenly wine" the night before their suicide run. They sure didn't get the short end of the stick.
Taipei, Taiwan mustangmike979... an ending note, I've been doing well. This last week's speaker was really great. He spoke on the Character of God and it really impacted me. I'm glad that I'm here and I can tell that I'm learning/growing a lot, even though at times somethings aren't as fun- like stomachaches from too much jiaozi (dumplings) or always being sweaty and gross from the humidity. Thanks for all your prayers- both for me and my dad. I love to hear how things are going in the states so don't be shy to email me!
