... true/false and sign identification part. The test is very poorly translated. Some of the questions you can't even understand what they are asking. And others are just weird questions. You need to get 85% of the questions correct to pass. I ended up passing on my first try of the written test...90%! Five of the six of us passed the written and moved on to the driving part. For the driving test there was a little course you had to pass. You had to drive down a path and ...
Yingge, TW.04, Taiwan ashleysblog... time, I would've gone fully feral and snarled at them and perhaps even mauled them. Two of my ex-co-workers dropped by to see me. Sandy gave me some pearl milk tea (my fave) and Elaine gave me a beautiful crystal/pearl necklace in purple. She's so nice...she remembered that my favorite color is purple. We chatted for a bit and then they headed home. I did a music exchange with Dawn and then prepared for bed. I found a long-ish and semi-comfy couch ...

Taoyuan, Taiwan athenaOn the Sunday that we moved, we found ourselves starving around 8 PM or so. We decided to stop by Pizza Hut and then head over to the dorm to mooch their internet before heading back and spending our first official night in our new place. We arrived at Pizza Hut and I noticed these two foreign guys in line to order their food. They were both good looking, but one stood out more than the other (he had amazing blue eyes, I am such a sucker for ANY man with light-colored eyes...it's my ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... where the hell time went. I wish I had started traveling earlier in my life...I discovered that I really LOVE traveling and experiencing other cultures and it just seems like time is running out and stuff. I would like to return to Canada by 2010 and start looking into a place of my own and a place where I will likely stay put for a while. Anyway...the plan was to go to this popular club in Taipei called Luxy. One of the co-teachers had said she knew a promoter there and ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athenaSo I've been bitten close to 50 plus times while i've been here. the most disturbing part is that they attack me while i'm trying to sleep, thus i can't get a good nights sleep. the previous tenant in my room had a mosquito repellent device which plugs into an electrical outlet. i've tried it twice so far and it seems to work great. of course, it's a bit expensive to use, but if it works well, i think i'll bring it along with me while i travel!!!
Taipei, Taiwan tototheturtleAfter a 13 hour flight on China Airlines, I'm in Taipei. I booked 2 nights at a hostel near Shida where I plan on studying Mandarin for a while. After taking the airport bus to the Taipei Main Station, I figure out the MRT and get to Guting station where the hostel is located. It is fairly clean and the manager gives me a quick tour. Taipei is hot and humid.
Taipei, Taiwan tototheturtle... was that my luggage may not make the flight. Thankfully, there was a storm at the Hong Kong Airport so they closed the airport down temporarily until the bad weather passed. Good or bad, I was sure my luggage made it to my plane because of the delay. At this point it was 10:30 pm and I'm starting to feel the effects of the long trip. Lucky for us, the time delay was only about 45 minutes and we were cleared to take off. Last stop Hong Kong.
Taipei, Taiwan protaras... the other side of the world in front of them again. Although it was a big gig, it was still far smaller than the crowd they get at home - so much bigger than the first Leeds show I saw. The crowd really were very polite - no one pushing and shoving like at home, but also no one dancing. We looked a bit silly I think - well, me especially, I was taking full advantage of this rare chance to dance to music I like. They played a lot of new songs, which I don't like so much ...
Taipei, Taiwan horizonbound... Taiwanese traveled home to be with their families this weekend, so on Friday we had a BBQ at the base house. Later that night, we went down to Lao Jie (Old Street) and walked around. We got these huge soft serve ice cream cones that would put American sizes to shame. They actually tasted more like frozen sugar water, so it wasn't exactly the same, but still alright. We walked ...
