Walking back streets on our own in more us, than seeing the main sights as that's where you get a feel for the place. It seemed every few metres Rachelle would be diving into another little shop, not to buy anything but just to nose around. I didn't mind at all, in fact I bought a new hat! ... to a huge shopping and dining complex called Canal City. The complex is comprised of the Grand Hyatt Hotel that is surrounded by 4 levels of shops in 3 buildings. In the centre area there is a huge fountain that displays a music and water art show every hour. It was quite spectacular and entertaining to watch. Doreen and I walked around a few sections of the mall shopping for clothes and souvenirs while John wandered around on his own. We had an ice ...

After frantic attempts to get tickets for a tour of Gunkanjima (Battleship island - as seen in Skyfall!), an abandoned settlement following the collapse of the coal industry, we decided to spend a second day exploring Nagasaki. Unfortunately it TIPPED it down with rain so some of our sightseeing was a bit hampered. WE DID: - walked to see Megane-bashi ('spectacles bridge' - due to its ...
