... across a batting cage. It was out of place for the area. We both gave it a whirl. 25 balls for 300 yen. I went twice and tired myself out. It was pretty fun. I did laundry once I got back to K's. While I was waiting I chatted with a Thai girl named Pang. I wanted to go to the onsen in the hotel nearby before it closed at 12:00 am. ... so strong we could barely walk across the parking lot to the different shops -- we kept getting pushed around by the wind! (Update note: We learned recently that Owakudani is currently closed to all visitors due to increased seismic activity that may indicate an upcoming volcanic eruption. While the winds were unpleasant, we are glad we got to experience it while it was open.)

Nonetheless, we managed to enjoy the culinary treats of Owakudani. We do love us ...
