... a drink at the tea house. However, we did peek inside the family-run establishment that has been serving refreshments for over 350 years. A large pot being heated over an open fire filled the room with the smell of wood smoke, and had Will wanting to call Fireman Sam (his favorite TV fire hero). Later, he would report that the “fire house” was his favorite part of the day.

However, there is plenty to see in the 5 Fuji lakes region and I was determined to have some fun. The Fuji Five Lakes region is located about 1000 m above sea level on the northern base of Mt.Fuji, with 5 likes know to be one of the best places to view Mt. Fuji and to base your climb. ... our 'regional' train to Hakone. From the station it was about a half hour drive to the cable car, not unlike driving the windy roads of Mt Buffalo. Unfortunately the cable car was not running but we were happy with our day's activities. First to the shrine where the cedar trees were huge. After wandering through the main hall we were fortunate to see a traditional wedding party and then some cute little kids all decked out in traditional garb. Kaoru explained that at age 3 both ...
