Water was muy caliente and you looked like a cooked shrimp when you got out, but a nice change from the freezing halls of school!
Our host mom drove us gringos (two other students, Gordon and I.... and her Granddaughter, Irena) to the hot springs that are about 16km outside of Xela towards the town of Zunil.

... was pizza at Hostal San Marcos which was owned by the same guy that owns Fé and is managed by a lovely Fulham guy called Stuart. Again there were a few musicians playing guitar and singing which was really nice, although there was one American guy with a very gravelly voice who liked the sound of it a bit too much and kept taking over from the others who were a lot easier to listen to. We didn't stay here, but we visited the hot springs. they were very clean and the water felt great! It is a gorgeous setting - among the clouds and rain forests and farm land high above Zunil and the valley below. The cabins here looked pretty simple for how much they charged (Because we asked to see them) but they did have a private bath you could fill with hot water in our room.
