(Rothenburg is supposed to be one of the most visited towns in Europe. I guess it would have been more so considering the festival so you can imagine how many people there were). ... of glasses of locally-produced white wine. I love the UK, but I have to say the quality and freshness of the food has improved 200% since crossing the channel.
And so, tomorrow I am off to Munich. I’m a little sorry to be heading back to the big cities now – Munich, then Berlin, then Amsterdam. I’ve so enjoyed the smaller towns I’ve been visiting this week.
I took Gunner and Edith’s recommendation for dinner, Gasthof zum Ochfen, ten minutes’ walk from the B&B. It was a wonderful place, with long tables where everyone sits together. They were having an asparagus festival, too, so I had the asparagus with steak, potatoes and hollandaise
sauce. It was so, so good. And I just loved the atmosphere, immersed in the local culture.
... Wertheim. Another small village with the promise of Castle ruins on the hill for those of us adventurous to climb up to it. To Steven, Happy Birthday tomorrow. Next year you will be nearly as ancient as the ruins that we have visited. Enjoy your last year in your 20's. We love you. I will leave you with the German word for the day.... Ausfahrt.
