Reykjavík, Iceland funofthefair After a very quick flight three hour flight to Reykjavik and a taxi ride into the city centre we were at our hotel. It was a nice hotel too so we booked it again for the last night of our trip.
We had a gentle wander around the main shopping area which was just outside of our hotel. A very surreal experience, the place seemed very small and the houses, such a range of styles, some made of wood, but many made of multicoloured metal sheeting.
The children had a ball looking in som...
Another bizarre night of dreams - dreams which have come from out of nowhere, this time it was school! Hemingbrough Primary where I started teaching, meeting back up with old pupils who hadn't aged a bit! I could even remember names that I thought I had forgotten - very strange! Think it may be part of the process of letting go of the UK. Up until now, I have been too tired to dream, so perhaps I am making up for it now!
After breakfast we tried very hard to get on the road a little ea...
Iceland 2009 Beginning I left Thursday morning from Lansing to Boston via Minneapolis. I had an award (free) ticket therefore the routing through Minneapolis. I was upgraded to first class on both legs, not bad for a ticket paid for with miles. I arrived in Boston around 2:30 pm for an 8:30 pm flight on Iceland Air. I hung out in the World Club, went to the gate area and had dinner at Houlihan's. The flight was called on time and boarding went smoothly. Never having flown Iceland Air, I didn'...
Reykjavík, Iceland nedkDue to the devaluation of the currency of Iceland the trip was not expensive: 335 € for the return-flight, four nights with breakfast in hotel "Fron" (which is stronly recommended) and transfer. First day we arrived and went out for dinner to the "Sea Baron" which is a gin place at the harbour, but food is really great (lobster soup, lobster on a spit). Second day we made the "golden circle" tour and saw the GULFOSS waterfall, hot springs and great landscapes. Third day we went to the "b...
Reykjavík, Iceland tilmanOn Saturday night we went to the Viking House. There we had a great dinner and a very entertaining evening. Just a quick note... Reykjavik on a Saturday night is the most madness I have seen in a long time. The party starts around 11 pm and doesn't end until 6 or 7 in the morning... Of course I had to be in the middle of it!!!
