Windsor, Bath & Stonehenge

Now this is a story and a half. First a note of warning: Do not use Golden Tours when in London. We had a very bad experience with them.
OK so, for our second day in London we had a wonderful guided tour of Windsor, Bath and Stonehenge planned. I was super excited to see Stonehenge and the other two stops sounded interesting too. The bus was to pick us up at a hotel approximately 4 blocks from the KK George at 7:30 am sharp. We had a very early wake up call, scrambled to ...

... mid morning we had a torrential downpour. The kids were prepared with waterproofs, but Jeff and I had fleeces! We had to shelter, under the roof of a ride photography shop, Lucy supplied the staff with a number of jokes which meant we could stay there until the rain eventually stopped.

After that, the sun came out ...

... I'll admit I've never really looked up what this collection is all about, I had always just assumed it was a doll collection. How wrong I could be. It's actually a miniature replica of the castle, complete with furnishings & electricity throughout. It's quite impressive & the detail is amazing. According to the guards, the artworks on the walls of the doll house & some of the furnishings were even made by the famous artists that were commissioned for the original pieces ...

... we all passed out in the hotel room and took naps. Mom and I woke up to a phone call at about 6:30 from dad saying that Paul ( a friend of his from Thales, whom mom and I met once in the U.S.) was here in the lobby and wanted to take us to Stonehenge. We greeted Paul and piled into his car and went off to the town of Salisbury to see Stonehenge. This was a much better ride than on the train, because along the ...

I still keep in contact with Jijo which is fantastic but i cannot seem to get hold of Farah, which is very upsetting. If anyone reading this (you never know) knows ...

... t mean you should completely fill them. Now I don't know if you have ever tried to unpack and repack a suitcase whilst it is balanced on a trolly, in the middle of a busy bag shop, in the middle of one of the busiest airports in the world and on the verge of having a full scale row with someone you have to then sit next to for 12 hours, but if you have, then spare a thought for us. If not, then you can only imagine the tears ...

... of Richard III, the Wycliffe Bible, symphonies composed by the likes of Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven, and lots and lots of scrolls from Eastern history that I know little about but could at least identify- some very ancient copy of the Koran that belonged to some very important sultan, various Hindu and Daoist and Buddhist texts, and various other incredibly old drawings of dragons and emperors and such. Did I mention these were all the ACTUAL ones?!?!?! After the ...

... walking around checking out the city. Firstly I walked down towards the famous Trafalgar Square and took heaps of pictures of the statues and buildings in that area. The one thing that blew me away about the City has been the buildings and infrastructure. You'll notice if you have seen my photos on facebook is that I've taken a lot of pictures of buildings and what not. Its not something you see in Auckland, since NZ is quite a new country compared to England, and ...

... 109 to have the same privilege. Crazy. But I was assigned an aisle seat (I need a window seat to be able to sleep) and the flight was overbooked so there were no extra seats anywhere, and then to add insult to injury, my inflatable pillow kept deflating every 15 minutes during the flight! I don't know what I was doing wrong or if it's just a product defect. It's been awhile since I've flown any ...
