      ... she was congratulating me on getting that far, however no. I managed to work out that she was yelling that she forgot to tell me the brakes didn't work. I feel as though that vital piece of information should have been the first thing she told me. Using my extensive knowledge of bike riding (and piecing together what Kirsa was yelling) I started to back pedal and thankfully I did start to slow down.

      Third attempt: Now that I knew how to stop the bike and get on it ...

      ... We visited a coffee house which was on one such site. Apparently Hamburg has the largest coffee roasting establishments in Europe! We watched the beans being roasted, tasted the obligatory coffee and kuchen, and enjoyed the intoxicating aroma. It was wonderful - haha! By the way - forget the hamburgers in Hamburg! It is all about the fish :) Every type imaginable is available on this historically significant harbour city ...

      ... and modern architecture as well as the amazing Elbe River.
      We went to a rather large German Carnival on the last night there, and it was pretty impressive, especially with its crazy, never-ending selection of sausages, strange pastries, beer, and pretty much everything else ...

      I'm on a train! I'm also on a ferry! I love trains! I LOVE ferries! This is awesome! Okay. Now that I got that out if my system, here is an explanation... Today we are journeying north from Düsseldorf to Copenhagen. We are going by train and had a fairly tight connection in Hamburg before getting on the train I am currently (kind of) on.       ... stage half of Hamburg was actually part of Denmark (there is a statue in the red light district – yes another red light district – they all seem to have one) that marks the division between Germany and Denmark.

      We stopped off at a festival along the lake (or was it the River Elbe? Not sure) and there got talking to a young Hamburgian lad serving beer who had spent time travelling around ...
