Before I wake up I hear the rumbling of the train. When I open my eyes, i see mountains just outside the window. I mean just outside, a few meters. They are yellowish grey, and they look very dry. Just a few scrawny shrubs vainly attempt to hold the brown silt together. Gullies cut through the landscape. Now and then the mountains get really close and suddenly we go through tunnels. It is a very different landscape than elsewhere, and reminds me of my old friend Xiao Zhao from ...

... cycle, and how they make their cocoon out of one long, long, long strand of silk! A really soft, strong beautiful "protein" just like our hair! Afterwards, we walked through the store area of quilts, comforters, clothes, scarves and knicknacks. We headed for dinner in a small local restaurant and the food was delicious! We were stuffed! Luckily we have Frank with us, and he chooses us a delicious meal which includes blue corn, purple potatoes, boiled lamb and steamed peanuts.

It was crazy. So much waste. It was another feast for kings. Again the hosts performed the toasting and cheersing sporadically throughout the night. We were better prepared and didn't ...

Last day in Beijing. But wait shanghai together?

A travel blog entry by jean.yen1 on May 20, 2012

... of China again this time the Jiyongguan section of it. This section of the Great wall was important because it served as the last military outpost before the road reached Beijing. The day was beautiful not as hot as yesterday and the scenery was breathtaking. But man was climbing the wall hard! Never mind doing square with a personal trainer.... Ppl should look at climbing the greT wall as a fitness challenge. Not only is it steep the steps are all uneven. And it's ...
