Leaving Oklahoma we headed along the old route 66 road to Weatherford were we stopped at the Space museum for Thomas Stafford which was very interesting all about his Apollo Missions. Next stopping at one of 2 museums about route 66 today.

... James managed to still drink heaps of beer after and party all night. Down the Route a ways, we found Lucille's Gas Station, a historic two-pump gas station outside Hydro, OK. We stopped for lunch at her namesake resturant down the road and then let the girls drive again as a part of the last leg of the trip into Amarillo, but we couldn't pass Groom, TX without a quick visit to the World's Largest Cross. After Glenrio, we continued our eastward trip towards home. We stopped off in a large cow pasture to experience the odd artwork of Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez, and Doug Michels, members of an art group called Ant Farm.

In 1974, these three artists created a public art installation consisting of 10 older running or broken down Cadillacs - ranging in year from 1949 ~ 1963 - buried nose first in the ground.
