... The Souris River originates in Manitoba and the Canadians decided to open up a dam, and that's what caused the flooding. The Canadians only gave them a half day notice and it's only because of the state police warning them that there was a wall of water heading their way that they were able to get to safety.

We drove a long day from International Falls to Minot. We drove out of Minnesota by way of Warroad, sneaking a peak at the Lake of the Woods. We stopped in Grand Forks and played a fun game of disc golf at a great course. Then on to MInot where we stayed a nice Sleep Inn that had a great water park with crazy fast slides. ... my bike and set off for Minot 125m away. Though the first 15 or so miles were not easy given that they were due North which unfortunately meant I was buffetted for an hour or so by strong cross winds I was comforted by the knowledge that I would be turning soon and would then have 110 miles of support, so I pedaled on without complaint and with a smile.
