... so we had to go across some slightly scary rock ledges, but we pressed on. I am so glad we did, because we saw mountain goats right on the trail, including two baby ones; many hoary marmots, and a bear the size of a speck down in the lake fishing. ... And judging by the amount of acreage being watered, it must be plentiful. We saw corn and grain and potatoes and other crops we could not identify from the highway. The clerk at the hotel told Steve they even grow hops in that area.
