Arrived Baker City - "Free" hotel - whee!

The drive today was just 7 hours and 20 minutes long, and it was uneventful.

The scenery in northern Utah, Idaho and Oregon was fine, but not spectacular - it was really just a driving day and while it was 5 hours shorter than yesterday, it felt quite long. There were some minor twisty bits of road (some of which were in the rain) which were fun and borderline heart-in-mouth for the rainy ...

Reverse Oregon Trail

A lot of driving today, about 8 hours, but we've crossed 2 states and one time zone and are now in central Idaho. We had an informative stop at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City Oregon where we learned about the pioneers who packed up their wagons and came out West lured by the offer of free land. We then all realized we're doing a reverse, modern-day Oregon Trail of our own except our "wagon" is way more comfortable! We're camping for the night ...

Met up with mom, dad and Johnsons here in Baker, Oregon. Hard to say goodbye to the Jims :( Settled in with all my gear and preparing to head out tomorrow for Spokane, the first leg of many legs to Alaska. Super warm here in Baker, hopefully it will cool off a bit as we head north. Lots of nice bikes in town for Baker Bike ...

We continued our Northward journey home with a drive to historic Baker City, OR. The campground office itself has been designed to look like it might have 100+ years ago when the first settlers arrived on the Oregon Trail from the Eastern US. After our daily, happy hour snack and drink we setup the trailer ...

... 8217;s at high elevation and 40’s in the valleys, and strange looking men with weapons along the way. Not ideal motorcycle (or car) conditions and no time to take it easy. Away we went.

After the boat trip, 2 hours drive to Baker City, OR motel, arriving just before dark and getting cool. Beautiful drive. Nice room, great food and Pinot Noir. The sun was shining so off for more adventures tomorrow.
