Great big room and bathroom. Little balcony overlooking the street. Simple breakfast brought to your door (wow, i don't even have to look presentable for this!) as their breakfast room was being renovated.
Great for a budget traveller. i wish all my hotel rooms were like that!

    ... mosque opposite remains though.

I meet the sister on reception who is attending the english meetings and Ilir who has been arranging my talk for tomorrow. I am then able to have a tour in English. The Bethel family here has 50 members who look after the work here and Kosovo. Translation is all done and the magazines are then printed in Germany and shipped back here for distribution. The tour finishes and I have a chat at the front gate with Ilir and Petriti. I arrange ...

... car to the top of he mountain and walked even more. The cable car ride was the longest I have ever been on as it took 15-20 minutes one way. At the top we had lunch looking out over the city. I did not realize how large Tirana was until I saw it from the mountain top. All day I have been worried about Lucy Belle. I do not know how I will make it up in the village without word on how she is doing. I do not know how ...

... the most striking we'd seen! This was like stepping back in time thirty years and we were in the only tour bus we saw in the entire time we spent crossing Albania. Locals stopped to look as we went past and children waved from the fields. We regularly sighted donkey and carts on the main road.

Our hotel in the capital, Tirana, was reasonable despite the fact that the city was quite run down in places. We had regular power black outs during the evening and apparently three ...

... again. We decided to take a bus to Vlorė in the morning and tried to find a cheap hotel. We were lucky as Anita noticed the sign of a small family guesthouse right next to the train station. The room was spacious, we had air-conditioning and a TV. We could leave the bikes in the yard in safety and we even found free WIFI so we only left the hotel after dark. We enjoyed the evening in a small bar, eating grilled sausages and drinking Albanian red wine.
