Great big room and bathroom. Little balcony overlooking the street. Simple breakfast brought to your door (wow, i don't even have to look presentable for this!) as their breakfast room was being renovated.
Great for a budget traveller. i wish all my hotel rooms were like that!

... we were coming into the city. It’s definitely a city of contrasts – there are massive blocks of flats dating from the communist regime but which now appear to have been painted to get rid of the standard grey but they still look pretty ****** but many of the ground floor flats have been sold to become shops. So you have these tired decrepit upper floors but on the ground floor there’s a real flash restaurant or an upmarket shop. Then you have ...

We ended up wandering around for a while, and asked four different people for directions and got sent in four separate directions, and also lost Matt.A for a while too, but eventually we found the right street, and after a couple of blocks we finally found it!! Yay! So we sat down and ordered the whole shebang. ...

... interest of Tirana, it was much the same as Sarajevo. However were as Sarajevo had a raw rugged and sobering exterior which showed the people as having a spirit of survival after the siege. Tirana has a couple of attractive areas, but generally it is on big rubbish tip. It reminds me of a large scale squat. The people do not seem to take a lot of pride in their ...

... and it was cold enough that he went back to get a coat but while he was going back for his coat, it had started raining enough to be uncomfortable and the hotel desk had never heard of the idea of hotels having umbrellas so we just gave up on going anywhere at that time. We went into the gift shop of the hotel and found some of the Cobo winery Raki which our daughter got as a gift. There was some lovely jewelry there as ...

... along the main boulevard to the river and noticed red and yellow lights overhead. At the end of the boulevard, in Mother Teresa Square, I saw a building and a Christmas tree lit up in bright blue light. When I got to the area of town that my host, Sabine (pronounced Suh-bee-nuh) lives, I could see that the nightlife was buzzing. Since Tirana had received a lot of rain in the past week, there were lots of puddles on the street. Cars don’t really watch out for ...
