... the dollar is equal to about 7 Swedish kroners, so a $30 dollar shirt is listed as 210, but a beautiful dress may be 2210, which as it appears and is, very expensive. We visited the very popular department store Åhléns, where I found my own beautiful red dress, from a Swedish designer (pictures to come soon I'm sure). It was a bit of a dreary rainy day so we had our Somersby cider and Swedish meatballs, people watched and the turned in early from a long day of walking. ...
... tapas restaurant on Jakobsbergsgatan (everything is seemingly within walking distance). The food was delicious, the service very friendly and helpful. We ordered around 6 dishes, and although they didn’t seem to be classic Spanish tapas dishes they were super yummy! After the meal we went to another bar around the corner for a night cap. I forget the name but it was on Birger Jarlsgatan, opposite Sturehof. This bar was cool, the décor was cool, everybody in it was cool, an ...
... me of Chi man :) It was such a large place that it took all day to explore, We definitely recommend it! After we left there we were getting hungry so we headed towards a mostly vegan restaurant near old Stockholm called Herman's. We were recommended to eat here by Karin who we hung out with yesterday, and we weren't disappointed. It was pricey but delicious and all you can eat! We sat by the water overlooking Stockholm and enjoyed ...
... working on the details and aren't sure yet if we will carry through with this plan but in the meantime we though we might find a very small place to call "home" here. Of course we will also have our Spanish home and you can bet we will be there in the winter!
Anyway, this chance siting of an apartment offer set us off on another small adventure, walking to the Central Station and taking the tunnelbana to Sätra. It is a ...
The time has come yet again for this curios cat to lose herself in another adventure. But the thing is I'm not a cat.
If you followed my last journey you know that I named the blog appropriately "Release the beast" as I could feel a change coming, and oh boy did it come... The beast is out. A long slow metamorphosis has taken place, but if I ever expected a butterfly to emerge I was wrong. It ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Freys Hotel Stockholm
I have been staying at the Frey's hotel since 1998; I've lost count of the amount of times. I've seen the hotel go through three decoration changes and right now it is looking fabulous!
Good location and pretty comfortable
I like the decoration around the reception counter, it's pretty warm and comfortable. The receptionists are friendly and treat guests with enthusiam. The continental breakfast is the best one that I've tried. The location is super good cause it's the opposite of Arlanda Express station and near the shopping area and scenery. Regarding the price comparing the average standard in Stockholm, I'm satisfied with Freys and will recommend my friends to stay in.
Our last night in Stockholm we stayed at the Frey Hotel. We chose it because it is very close to the express train to the Arlanda AIrport. It's decent but not great. The staff was nice.
Looking for a hotel?
We had a great time and highly reccomend it. Frey's has a great location, staff was helpful, and it was very clean and quiet. You can't go wrong!
Very, Very Happy with my Stay
This was my fourth trip to Stockholm and my first time staying at this hotel. I would definately stay at Freys again. The location is excellent: In the heart of the city, a short walk from Central Station where you can get the bus to the airport. The room was decent sized and the bed comfortable. They show a concern for aesthetics that you don't usually find in a hotel in this catagory. This a relatively inexpensive hotel but it has lots of style. The buffet breakfasts were pretty good too.
Great location, good value
Just a few blocks from the the airport bus terminal and even closer to the subway. We got somewhat confused when we first arrived on the airport bus, since you need to take a stairway down to Vasagatan to get to the hotel.
The standard rooms are small, and the bathroom is tiny, but usable. The shower shares the floor with the rest of the bathroom, so you get the entire floor wet when you shower. They thoughfully give you a squeegee to clean up afterwards. The advantage of this setup is that when you open the shower curtain, the shower becomes part of the bathroom, making it feel larger.
The beds were excellent and the free breakfast buffet was quite extensive.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel over the New Year perion (2005). As this was our first trip tp Stockholm we booked the hotel through the official city tourist board and we got a standard room for less than £100 p.n.
Good place to stay
Convenient location - right accross from Central Station. I had one of the "deluxe rooms" which was big by European standards. Nicely furnished - felf like being in an IKEA store. Good buffet breakfast included.
