Historical Traveler Reviews Fresno Hotel And Conference Center

They wanted to charge me $300 for my dog's stay - a "decontamination fee."

We arranged for one night at the Radisson Hotel in Fresno for October 10th. Their listing in the AAA Travel Book said that there was a $50 security deposit for pets, which was fine with us.

When we registered, nothing more was said about our dog. We went to the room, and it was bad. We'd asked for two double beds, they gave us one King bed. The view was of some scroungy building roofs. I tried to call the desk, but the phone was out of order. I went to the desk and asked for another room. I was told that there would be a $300 fee for "decontaminating" the room because of the dog. Of course, we left immediately. We were also disappointed with the hotel in general, which used to be elegant. They now have a Pizza Hut in the lobby!

It's sad to see a once lovely hotel rapidly becoming a dump.

          Solid choice.

For the price this is a very nice hotel. The staff was very friendly, the lobby is attractive, and the room was clean and comfortable (though nothing fancy). The room itself showed a little aging, but overall this was a very positive experience and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

          Good Choice

Stayed here on the way home from Kings Canyon National Park. Good location, clean and comfortable and seemingly safe just outside of downtown. Coffee in the room and comp bottle of water (somewhat rare these days.) Nice atrium lobby--reminds me of similar Embasy Suites atrium lobbies. All remodel is finished. I was quoted $129/for one night stay on the phone, but did not reserve at that time. When I did arrive, I was quoted $119 for the same room (forgot AAA, so I probably could have gotten lower).

Anticipating my return trip (picking up daughter at camp) I booked on Priceline for $58 (+taxes, total $72). That's definitely a price I can live with, only wish I'd had access to a computer for my 1st night stay--seems the internet rates are the way to go if you don't want to chance PriceLine (though in the category of 3-star/upscale, there are only a few Fresno locations that match that criteria.)

          Great hotel for the price

I stayed at this hotel for one night on June 20, 2005. I was favorably impressed by the cleanliness and comfort of the room, particularly for the price paid ($79). All the staff were courteous and friendly, and I received prompt attention to all requests. The bathroom was basic, but the ameneties (shampoo, lotion, etc) were quite nice, and of spa quality. And, the bathroom was spotlessly clean.

The room itself had a king size bed (comfortable), and pull out sleeper couch (not used). Nice work space, and free wireless internet access. Comfortable, adjustable desk chair. 27 inch TV in an armoire.

The hotel restaurant was ok, with quick service. The lobby was freshly renovated and attractice.

All in all, I'd stay there again if I needed to go to Fresno.

          Great Staff

I cannot believe the service I got from this hotel. EVERYONE was so nice and pleasant, even the housekeepers said hello and asked if they could help me in any way. I come to Fresno on a weekly basis, and have now made this my new weekly home, even if the other hotels in the area are cheaper. If you are coming to Fresno, my suggestion is to stay here, you won't regret it.

          Good Downtown Location

I was there for a company conference and I was forced to stay there by my company, which at first I was not happy about since I normally stay at another popular brand, but as soon as I walked in the door and was greeted by such a nice front desk person, I knew my company picked a great place. Everyone treated me like gold, I thought it was because of the company that I work for, but then I saw them treated everyone like that. When I went into work the next day I told our trainer that I was so happy with this hotel and she said she hears that from everyone. With the great things this hotel does, I can understand why it is always so full.

          Great Hotel

I stayed at the Radisson Hotel in Fresno for the first time last week. The hotel was very busy but my room was great. Apparently they have done a lot of updating - they have before and after pictures of the hotel and it does look great now. My favorite thing about the hotel is PrintMe. I can print from my computer to their front desk - it made working away from the office very easy!

Well the best thing I can say is the staff was friendly. The room was a holdover from the early 80's with mauve colored carpet, etc. It looked like it had not been vaccumed at all and the shower/tub was gross and the sink stopped up and I got the hell out of there ASAP.There is construction going on inside and they are doing the prep work with the saws and whatever else they use right outside the front door.Keep going right on by this place unless you are going to fall asleep while driving in that case you will possibly be to tired to look very close at this place.

Wanting a good night sleep you may want to think again

I have stayed at this hotel approx 3 weeks a year for the last 6 years....the weeks are spread throughout the year. The last four times I have stayed there the fire alarms have gone off about 2Am in the morning an we have to clear the building and wait for fire Dept. If there is a concert or something going on at the convention center across the way the bar attracts everyone over there and it's soooooo loud. When the temps are hot do not stay above the 5th floor and stay on the east side of the building.

The majority of the staff is pleasant we have had several run ins though with a staff Member named Leona (Hicks) I believe. WE come with a large group and she is very rude and doesn't help a bit. Too many people from our league have had problems with her and we are now looking at staying some where else in Fresno. The staff at the restraunt is so so. The evening help looks pretty unhappy. Food is VERY easy to find in Fresno take the HWY to Shaw and head East you will find everything. Plus movie theatres target walmart etc....I've stayed at the la quinta on Tulare and the rooms are pretty similar except on the La quinta the offer free Breakfast.

Good Luck and bring ear plugs!!!

          Mediocre stay

This hotel was not as nice as the website makes it out to be. To start with we were greeted by the sounds of jackhammers when we entered the hotel in the middle of the afternoon. Apparently they have just started to renovate the lobby as there were big piles of torn-up concrete in the lobby. The waterfall does make a lot of noise if your room is on that side of the hotel. It is kind of dark inside the lobby, it reminded me of a warehouse with a hotel built inside of it. I got this room through Priceline and called them immediately after my bid was accepted to inquire about getting a room with two beds, it sounded like it wouldn't be a problem, however when I got to the hotel they only had one bed rooms available. This may have been because they were starting to strip the rooms on the second floor. I stayed in Fresno because it was halfway between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks, I was not impressed with Fresno at all, finding places to eat was an adventure. The hotel was not all bad though, the room itself was average, nothing special about it, but there weren't any problems with it either. The bathroom was big and I did like the soaps they had in there. The pool area wasn't too bad either. I think the best feature of the hotel was the bar area, it's a great place to unwind after a long day. All in all I got this room on Priceline for about $60 and wouldn't complain if I got put here again. It may be better when the renovation is complete, but again they were just starting it, so I don't believe it will be finished for a while.

It's back to reality......but that's great.....I have had quite an adventure and ready to share my stories of South Africa and what a beautiful country and people I have encountered.
The animals in the parks that we were privileged to see and the care that is given to the tourist who come to visit the parks is incredible.

... I was small I saw a story in "Look & Learn" where a car was driving through a tree... Pretty cool and now we have driven through that very tree. General Grant is the 2nd biggest, (No Ambition!), and Sherman is the largest living thing on the planet! This is where players of Trees Top Trumps will say it's not the tallest or not the tree with greatest girth etc... DONT BE SILLY. It has the greatest bulk. Most sequoias don't live much beyond 1000yrs. They rot from ...

... and Chris was making pancakes! At last! A Comstock guy that could follow a recipe! As he cooked, we talked it all over while Bree and Haley and Keegan swam. Just as we were enjoying each other, it was time for me to hit the road and for them to go to a wedding. I was glad to visit their little house on Christmas Tree Lane. I wonder what it will look like for Christmas. I love how Bree decorates.

Today is the last day of our trip and it makes me sad because I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to thanks to Bertha. However, I am not going to let her ruin it for me today! To show our thanks to our host, Pakou and I decided to spend the day with them by watching the movies we bought at Walmart and eating junk food. We headed out to the store ...
