... of course I try one....its OK..a girlie drink). I visit all the "towns" - Little China, India, Malaysia . Feels like I'm touring Epcot. Food and smells are great. Singapore's a little pricey....even the street fairs w/ merchants selling rings, statues, jade artifiacts....they don't care to negotiate off their opening price, so either the stuff is more valuable than I realize or they're just conditioned to high costs.
Singapore, Singapore mauro08... transferred & got off at our Chinatown stop. Whoo Hooo.. that was fun.
We were back at the hotel at approximately 1630 which gave us time to do some more packing & repacking. We had purchased a couple of cheap suitcases so we could spread things out. We did not purchase much on the trip, but the airlines are so picky about weight restrictions, we just wanted to make sure we did not pay the overweight charges. It was cheaper to ...

Singapore, Singapore jasonandkate... Foreign Worker Full Contact" in other countries besides Qatar: Singapore, Dubai, Oman, and some European countries and to a small extent in the United States. In the United States, I worked with some LVN's (just under a RN in the nursing world) and they had been recruited. But in all cases, and I can't think of a single different answer, all other foreign workers, in whatever job, in whatever country, all ...
Singapore, Singapore carpefeline... I went out to Butter Butter, some newly opened joint in Ratchada behind the Esplanade with nice decor and a small crowd so far. It was pretty pleasant and memorable for the parts of the night I remember. Woke up in time to hastily finish 'packing' my bags, say a few good byes and jump to the airport.
Flew back to Singapore with my cousin and was happy that the roiling gaseous balloon that was my stomach didn't explode or make me vent ...
... the headache that I couldn’t shake I didn’t last too long and headed back.
So… in all, Singapore wasn’t a great start for me. I felt like **** most of the time in spite of popping a bunch of panadol, my plans kept getting screwed up because of misinformation, the Formula 1 closures, and me just not thinking things through properly– and losing my wallet. (What a dufus for losing my wallet on Day 1!!) I did have a few ...
... put us in contact and Claire, now based in Singapore, invited me round for a barbie. We spent hours chewing the fat over Uni, reminiscing about Saturdays spent in bed watching Sunset Beach and reminding each other of questionable fashion choices we made as 18 year olds (for me, my knee length sheepskin coat, for Claire, her fluorescent bomber jacket), and failed to notice that the barbeque had caught fire. After the flames were extinguished, though, we ...
Singapore, Singapore chloeb... given a card signed by all the kids to say Thank you to Teacher Deb and Teacher Sam.
Then saturday morning a tearful farewell to the staff at Victoty and all the other volunteers.
The Tuk Tuk drive back to the airport was a very quiet one, and I was remembering how 3 weeks earlier it had all seemed so strange, yet suddenly now it all looked very familiar.
We landed in Singapore ...
... Singapore about 10 pm Australian time. Very hot and steamy, even for we North Queenslanders. I bought a couple of t-shirts so we could be trendy and show off back in Australia. We set the watches back two hours to Singapore time, so leaving at 11pm was like staying up till 1am – hard going after the last week of frantic preparations and after being up since 4am!
The second leg of the ...
... what I've heard and read about the country.
Although I took the little that I've known about Singapore's criminal justice system with a grain of salt, I couldn't help but feel a bit anxious about going there. You know that sinking feeling that bugs you when somebody tells you, "I've got a surprise for you" and you ask what it was and he won't tell you? Well, that's exactly what I felt as our day of coming neared. I ...
