Dijon is not playing fair

... been travelling another line and wasn't going to stop at where I needed to be. The hostel never bothered to tell me that the bus deviates from line 4 after 2000. This stop however according to the bus route map was only a street away from where I needed to be. Phew! A little sweat on the brow there.
Then I spent an hour looking for some place to eat after being directed by the receptionist that there was Pizza 'just across the street'. Being at an intersection; there were ...

Update from P and D

... Passion" of this trip. Barely had we rolled to a halt at the Domaine Michel Guitton when a lady of the establishment was out to meet and greet with the offer of a 'degustation'. We accepted and, once inside, were presented with a list. First was Petit Chablis at 8eu a bottle. Next was Chablis at 10eu followed by three others going over the 30eu mark. We asked to sample the 10eu bottle, duly produced from a cool box. very nice, we said - we'll have a ...

... medieval Phillipean castle and explained the evolution of castle defenses. It was thoroughly enjoyable, though it would have been better had it not been 30+ degrees on the dry and dusty construction site.

After leaving Guedelon, we headed for our home base for the next two nights, the city of Beaune. Beaune is a small city of 25K in the heart of Bungundy. After checking into our hotel, we ventured into ...

Somewhere along the way a turning was missed and an extra hundred km's were added to the

All the way to Burgundy

... just a short walking distance from the town, and very comfortable. We showered, ate, and took a late walk into the town.

Beaune is very attractive. We'd noticed impressive medieval ramparts on our drive through to the campsite, and now we also admired some austerely ornamental 18th century mansions, which reminded me at least of 'Marlinspike Hall' in Tintin. I also particularly liked a massy Gothic ...

Dijon update

... was white asparagus, sold only by the kilo. Guess what we had for dinner... a kilo of asparagus, and couscous. Unfortunately, that much asparagus is apparently bad for one's digestive fauna, and we have since been searching for probiotic yogurts. Out of the Rhoe Alps into Burgandy. The hills have become less steep, almost flat, the rain stopped day before yesterday, and the wind is now a light breeze! We discovered Camping a la ferme. These are small campgrounds ...

... that the French will have 2-3 Kirs every night before dinner, jeez! we had dinner at this great Italian restaurant and then called it a night. Sarah had work early in the morning so she needed to get to bed and we were tired from all of our travels. i am so glad we ran into Sarah because not only was she very helpful and nice, (very lucky on our first day in France) but we had a lot of fun and learned a lot more about Dijon than we would have on our own.

Dijon

In Dijon the show was at a very small club called Deep Inside. We actually had some time to walk around. The city is just lovely. As you approach it, you see all these wonderful old buildings that seem like they are tumbling over a hill. Unfortunately, it was a Sunday and the shops were all closed. So much for finding some souvenir moutard.

Well fed and ready for bed we retired for the night. A town square, Dijon Bishop gave me his blessings... More costumed festivities, Dukes festival. ... room was closed and she was trying to make us out... so we hurried to get ready and to get the breakfast which we ate on a bench in a nearby park. But waaaaahhh I'm totally feeling bad and the cold isn't doing better, my head want to explode. We walked and got out of Dijon which was a long walk. Our luck is that finally at a third car a British guy going to St-Tropez stopped and hitched us until Belleville Train Station. He was pretty cool and weird though. Again ...
