Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana reneemarie... to burst out in laughter.

I kindly reminded the tro tro mate that he didn’t even know my name so how on earth could he love me.
To this he responded I love at first sight.
The entire tro tro then proceeds to burst out in more laughter.

This only results in more hello’s and the profession of the mates love for me.
The mate then proceeded to pull out (what appeared to me to be all) the money that he had made and said
Hello?<br ...
Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana reneemarie... He agrees. Other problem is, Ni lives in Accra and needs to get dropped off there, and he's the only person with us that has any idea what's going on. Anyways by the time we get back to Accra and drop him off, it's around 10:45 PM. We drop him off, drive away, and it becomes apparent fast that the driver doesn't know how to get to Tema. He pulls over and asks someone, drives a block, pulls over and asks someone else, who turns out to be a ...
Accra, Ghana heringSo far, every entry has been from memory. I started writing from the 5th to the 9th today (august 10th). Today is actually the 13th while i am posting. here is the first up-to-date entry:

Today is the first afternoon I have had free (to myself) since we arrived at The University of Ghana on August 5. I had the option, but because there were other plans within our group, I haven't spent anytime to speak of at the ...
Accra, Ghana ellebee88... been helpful in understanding all of the aspects that are involved with Ghanaian music (specifically traditional hand drumming). I found it very interesting to start to understand that the drums can actually recite poetry. Master drummers can even call people by their name by using specific patterns. This music has been developing for centuries, and it is clear that it will take a lifetime of studying to fully understand the music.
After the morning lectures, we have ...
Accra, Ghana derekgray... pushy. It turned out that they were out of food so there was no reason to serve us. We then looked in the Bradt guide for Ghana and Accra to find a restraint that was close. We chose one but it also was out of food; a contradiction to the guide books recommendation. Finally we went to the White Bell restaurant. It was great but we seemed to be the only people eating. It seems that most people eat early. The day was done and we returned to the hotel for hot showers.
Accra, Ghana annanddave... my lessons with Brother.

Today, Saturday, I had lessons with Brother. They didn’t go very well. I woke up with diarrhea this morning. I don’t know what it was from. I thought it was malaria, but I’m not sure. Malaria seems to come and go a lot here. Some people get stuck with it for a long time, but most people have it for a day, and then it goes away. So I was feeling icky, and I couldn’t concentrate. I was very tired. I was also ...
Medie, Accra, Ghana neilis... my second day in Ghana (still hadn't been 24 hours). The only time I'd ever played Bamaya that fast before was when Brother was at CalArts. It was awesome. When we were playing on the way out, the guy who mad dogged me earlier was smiling at me with his eyes wide open (it was the "play something awesome for us *then I played something that they apparently thought was awesome* oh my god! You just played something awesome" look). I was super excited. Right when we finished ...

Accra, Ghana nettan... out I was a Friday born (1st August 1986). From then on my name was no long** just “Obruni” (which I was by this point used to and kind of affectionate towards), but now also Afua or Efua, depending on the tribe. I quite liked it! Men’s names tended to begin with a K (if a boy I wouldn’t have been Jamie Adrian as my parents would have liked, but Kofi…v**y high pow**ed!).

Also if you had two children born on the same day ...
