Although the road continued to descend, sometimes by 1-2% only, the cycling became tougher as the north-westerly wind picked up. It struck me that this regular afternoon breeze we'd experienced since reaching the Southern Alps was probably the notorious Mistral.
Once we reached Gillete, for the first time we could see the wide course of Le Var just before it continued down to the east of Nice. We free wheeled down to Le Rouccias and, just ...
The descent was hard work, mainly because it was so windy. It's nerve wracking being close to the edge of the road in case you get a big gust. Although I breaked constantly (much more than most cyclists), I was still going very fast down the hill, and it was SO MUCH FUN but I was also pretty sure I was going to die (not really). After this, only about 15 km back to the hotel. I'm bad at math, but in total the ride was around 60 km, including me getting lost.
I have to ...
