Into Singapore (stopover)

Perth to Singapore. At Perth Airport Sam proved to be keen to shop with the first selection in the departure lounge of a cuddly flying bat. The bat is called Fluffy and was huggled through fitful sleep. Well, as expected, a bad time to be flying. After the last day at school for Sam and Caitlin, we boarded our Tiger flight on time and arrived in Singapore slightly ahead of shcedule, but still at a bad time of day. The flight was long and boring. Those TVs in the back of the seat are good as a...

Singapore is the cleanest city ever!!

Singapore: After a fabulous flight with BA to sunny and rainy Singapore, we loved the funny cheap food courts and amazing luxury clean shopping streets and plazas! It took us a while to get over the jetlag and were waking up at funny times and feeling like zombies! The whole city was lit up ready for Chinese New Year! Sim Lim Square, Orchard Road, Little India, China Town, and Mount Emily Park are highly recommended! Oh and the tube is so much nicer than London's! We did so much sight seeing ...

Day 1 & 2 Singapore

After catching the red eye special, I arrived at my hotel by 9am. Dropped off my bags and headed straight out for the Chinese Gardens and the Bonsai display. Although the gardens are quite nice the Bonsai were a bit of a disappointment, poorly styled and badly maintained.

Then I headed on to the biggest activity in Singapore, shopping, and shopping to me means scouring the antique shops for something nice to fit into my collection.

By 2pm fatigue had set in so I wet back to the...

Finally in Asia!!!

Aloha,

After 2 packed days (with tons of yummy jewish food) with Josh's peeps in Detroit, a rainy, miserable day in DC (that ended happily with a slice of pizza the size of Hil's torso), 21 hours of flying, 2 pills and a few cocktails each, we are in Singapore!!!!!

What a pleasure to be so hot and humid (not kidding)- how I've longed for these sticky days touring big Asian cities. We're on our way to Dim Sum for lunch, Little India for dinner, then we fly to Kuching, Malaysia...

Singapore--Day 2

We had a total of about 24 hours in Singapore before heading off to Borneo Island. It turned out that that was just about the right about of time for that city.

The three words we both used to describe Singapore were clean, uptight, and expensive. The best part about our visit was the food--we spent almost all of our time taking the immaculate subway system between Little India, where our hotel was located, and Chinatown. We ate everything that is delicious--curries, noodles, rices, du...

Discovering the Merlion

We were on board Singapore Air once more and this time to Singapore. My husband and I decided to explore Singapore on our own. It also served as a sort of honeymoon for us - a time to be away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and a perfect time to bond in a country where we both were strangers. We booked our hotel through the net. It was clean and the bed was big enough to fit both of us but the room as well as the bathroom were really tiny. It included free breakfast which consisted o...

Why Me

... by all the “**** YEAH’s” that went through my mind straight after these negative thoughts. It is scary being here in London by myself with all these strange people around me but I take comfort in the fact that the three people who I liken myself to more than 99.8% of Australians live in this big city: Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington.

And after that flight from the ninth level of hell I asked myself “is it worth it?”

**** YEAH.

gilpin's arrive in asia

... a new bolg which is hopefully easier. It remain stinking hot here. We have swam alot in the condo pool, have had dinner at an asian restaurant well some did - Carly and I had trouble finding something. Dinner out is very costly here as everything is, accomodations and vehicles - almost $50,000 canadian for the smallest car - a Hundai which would propbably be very cheap at home. While at dinner we saw the harbour wear all the ships line up for port ...

2 Days in Singapore

... to me that a group of ten on our flight were now quarantined from going to Thailand. Apparently, one of their group wrote on her health document that she was coughing about two weeks prior to this flight, but that she was now over it. Nice move, have fun in the quaratine area and prepare for your friends to beat the living **** out of you. With about five minutes left before my plane would board for Singapore, they let everyone off the ...

Tree Top/Newton Center/The Clinic/Flight to KL

... and unable to walk and look around further, was fine for me. I could move in the morning. The people who worked there were not friendly and I knew it was a place that I did not want to stay any longer than necessary. I wouldn't even budge when they tried to persuade me to stay longer. No way would I be there longer for a night. I jumped in the shower, desperate to wash my body after hiking and roaming the city and traveling all day. Then... sleep. Even though I had a ton to do the next morning, I refused to set an alarm.
