... It goes for about a week and ends with a boat race. Ate some hot chili veges for tea whilst watching Thai boxing on the bank of the Mekong. Very loud music until late in the night. ... I started in Orchard Road where there were only malls. Then I went to Marina Bay, which basically was a big mall. I did have an awesome lunch consisting of dumplings and I met a professional cyclist (level tour de France apparently!) who I went to the rooftopbar with for an awesome view of the city. Then I went on to the museum, in which Singapore pretended not to have any history apart from the past 50 years in which they did everything right. What are you hiding ...

... at immigration it was on to the the very agreeable Mandarin Oriental located in downtown Singapore. I've always been keen to get to this famous port city despite the mixed reviews I'd received. I must say I really enjoyed Singapore, with that said I can now understand the comparison with Dubai with respect to the sterile nature of the place however different to Dubai I felt Singapore with such a diverse / eclectic culture wasn't without soul which in my opinion ...
Had great sleep last night. Still woke early, 5am but stayed dozing till 6. Down for breakfast a bit earlier than yesterday and during that hit by a fairly heavy tropical storm, pelting rain, thunder and lightning. Plan B had to be invoked and we headed off (the rain had lessened to fine drizzle) to catch the on/off bus to do a lap of the city in air conned comfort.
