As we sit down to write this blog the sun has come out. Not the same when we left this morning, low clouds and rain. Well a couple days ago we were told by a lovely couple of a covered bridge in Madison county which they had seen that morning, they said this was the bridge used in the famous film. "The Bridges of Madison County" so we had to go, having been given ...
... Day long week-end, and today was a public holiday, and there were crowds of people everywhere. We had to join a traffic queue to drive up the loop road, the camping grounds all had out "no vacancy signs" and freedom camping is not allowed. In the end we gave up - did a u-turn and made our way down the mountain. We did see a deer on the way so that was some consolation. I only visited ...
... come across a Black Bear up on Chimney Rock, but it is a rare occurrence. You may also see deer from time to time, and the usual smaller mammals.
Peregrine Falcon's are known to live on the cliffs. Wouldn't that be fun to see one whizzing by you at 200 mph. (Fastest Bird in flight).
Definitely a great spot to visit and to hike if you have the time.
