Stopped off at a small cafe for a light lunch and found our waitress was from Bideford and her niece was married to a New (Lona's Bideford family) in Northam.

What an emotional few days its been! Not crying when I expected to and crying at unexpected moments. But by 2.30p.m. I was 1 ½ Km away from where I had been at 10.00a.m!

Coming towards the end of the woods, and they are particularly stunning here, and entering Peppercombe I started sneezing severely. Serious, no joking. Auto suggestion? The rest of the afternoon was on lower, farmland edge cliffs, but with a few toughie ascents thrown in. It was hard going again. Got to dig in. Hitting that wall again.

But then the path becomes very dramatic over about the next 8km with dozens of descents and ascents into these isolated combes, bays and beaches. On the up side they are very pretty, and you slow up and get plenty of time to appreciate them, and they have romantic sounding names like Sandy Mouth, Duckpool, Tidna ...
