South Of The South Island.
... Albatross, NZ Fur Seals, and a Fiordland Penguin (who was a little lost considering Fiordland was quite a way to the North!)
After the ferry ride back to Bluff we headed off straight away ourselves for Fiordland. I think we would have been much quicker than the lost Fiordland Penguin. We are making good use of the summer daylight hours. We arrived at a campsite, 50 kms short of Milford Sound, five hours later ...
Greetings from the Land of the Glowing Skies!
... Australis - just as you might expect given the meaning of Rakiura - land of the glowing skies! I was hoping to see this from Stewart Island as the sun has been very active lately and we were far enough south to see any possible auroral activity. The feint red curtain-like structures waved about over a hill to the south for a few minutes before fading. Day 148: 33 km - 13 hrs 20 min

It's too early for them to come out. I sit, watch the sea and eat an apple. I feel light-hearted and free. I burb loudly. A noise behind me. A man pretends not to have noticed and asks if he may join me, while waiting for his wife and son. We chat for a while, then they come and leave ...
Day 144: a museum a park a burger and a plane
... Last week they said that they might have to get a technician, another guest told me....
It's a nice walk along the river to the local airport. The plane has 8 seats including the pilot's. It looks like a van with wings. I sit right behind the co-pilot's empty seat and have a great view. We don't fly very high and can see the islands, the ferry... everything... and after an exciting ...
