Mosaics and Lions in Delos

... are still many columns as well as some interesting mosaics. Even with what remains, there is enough to get a good idea of what the island would have been like in its heyday. The best know sculptures on the island are a row of lions.

We anchored within the Bay of Delos and returned in the afternoon for lunch aboard. After we finished exploring the island, we boarded the yacht and returned to Mykonos for the evening. We went to shore and found a ...

A few days in Mykonos

It’s a little cool outside for a party island that is famous for its nude beaches and all-night dance clubs. This is the first time that I wished we were visiting Greece during the tourist season since the town almost feels empty and the beaches deserted.

This is ...

Cruising and coughing

... divine. It's funny how two months ago I would hyperventilate every time I did the math and realized how close I was to turning 29, which is so close to 30, which is so close to 35, which is so close to 40... you get the picture. And I'd think, "I don't own a house, I'm not married, I don't know if I want kids, What do I want to do when I grow up? Who am I?" And now I think, "Enh, I'm me. That's all I need to be for right now. We'll see who I am when I get to 29 and ...

our very first cruise

... caparisoned as is the rest of this beautiful ship. The quality of the finish, the decorations, artwork, statues, floral arrangements, panelling and the facilities are superb. There is an upmarket restaurant called the Pinnacle Grill which we will visit at some stage but there one has to pay ($20 each), whereas in other restaurants on the rest of the ship food is free, abundant and delicious.

We picked a little place in the harbour and had a lovely meal Ian having lamb and I had Stifado was delicious then in the place we where they had a traditional Greek wedding taking place with live music and everyone was up doing the traditional dancers. The bride and groom had not arrived but they were due to arrive later I think we did not hang around and had a lovely walk back to the hotel and a long long sleep.

Mykonos

Took the hydroplane from Santorini to Mykonos. Stayed right on the beach and the cruise ships docked right down the beach. Island topography not as dramatic as Santorini but very nice. Surprised how dry and little vegetation on both islands. Got my whole body in the Mediterranean not just my feet (no pictures of that !!)

Meet you in Mykonos/See the light in Delos

... and with the view, it probably would be worth it.With great free food waiting for us on board, we declined to eat in Mykonos and headed back to the ship.It was open seating night in the main restaurant (because they had a Greek buffet on the pool level - we decided against it - too busy and noisy). I forgot to write down the menu but I do remember the great medium rare New York steak I had for an entre and the chocolate cake infused with ...

Cruise Day 1

... is simple, but I think we needed simpler! It was pretty ridiculous, yet so much fun. Then the guy taught us the well known Greek dance called the Zora-this was the favorite in our group. After line dancing we stayed in the main lounge and played charades...we were good entertainment for people on the cruise-especially since it was us and a retirement home on the boat, but we made friends with a lot of people. We decided that ...
