Bodrum Peninsula, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey ronamaltz... to the mud baths and I was abandoned for an hour to go and explore.
You had to pay to enter the mud baths, even if you didn't go in and I have to admit (at the risk of sounding a snob - after visiting the blue lagoon (Iceland) there was no way I getting in the water/mud here!! It was hard to distinguish where the actual 'natural healing' spring started and where it was ...
I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)
Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.
... tour to an island that will most likely also have undergone a similar transition.
Does this actually benefit the area? I have to assume that it does, that the number of tourists who travel through from cruise liners and package holidays enjoy the ability to simply relax away from home, thus bringing in vital income to the area. But I hope that areas that cater to the travellers market (for people like myself) is not ignored as ...
... I was staying at. Yet again, however, the interest was one sided. Needing to book a flight to Israel, where several American-based Israeli friends were waiting to meet me, I returned to Fethiye.
Back in Fethiye the mind storm was getting out of control. Deep sadness was washing over me. This obsessive pattern of “can’t get him out of my mind” is familiar to me from my life before yoga. And even though this time it was certainly not as intense ...
Awoke near Pamukkale and paid a scandalous amount to get in. 10 pounds each to see some tepid pools of water. Even the initially striking karstic rock was pretty much covered in faint brown footprints. The extorsion didn't end there as it turned out that Cleopatra's Baths, the hot spring at the top was an additional cost. We thought we could get away with just paying for one of us to get in and then swapping the ...
Marmaris, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey davechrisdamo... tidbit was, I didn't feel like being herded to another store, at the expense of more time at Pergamum... Of course that didn't stop me from buying a cheap little onyx turtle for my mom...I probably shouldn't have out of principle.
The trip from Bergama to Kusadasi was almost as long as that from Troy to Bergama...it was turning into the longest day ever. It had also become clear that we would not be able to see the major attraction in Kusadasi, Ephesus, the ...
... done, so I walked him out. At this point, we decided that getting a hotel for the night sounded much better than heading back, so we opened up our guidebook and picked a place. I think it's called Kaleman, but I'll have to check that (Josh and Alex are sleeping right now, so it's too dark to go look). We found it, got two rooms, changed clothes and headed to the hotel pool to take a quick dip. Nanny and Grandpa introduced the boys to the concept of charging drinks at the ...
Efes, Turkey 3beansabroad... the local rooster that wakes us up at dawn as the calling from the mosque! I asked Margo what she missed about home and she said they missed peanut butter and made the mistake of telling their visitors who brought them gallons of the stuff! They had so much peanut butter they got sick of it. She has an incredible library of books in English, many of which were left by visitors. Several family members and friends have come to see her since she's been living in Turkey. Their ...
