Nice Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed in this hotel in May 2004 and reserved a one bedroom suite. The hotel was very well located. The suite was on the 20th floor with nice view of downtown. The furniture is ok, but no great taste. The staff were extremely nice. Free WiFi internet was great. Room service was also very good. I think this is an above average hotel; I would stay there again for the location and the friendliness of the staff.

Theft

Traveler's beware! My wife had a designer handbag stolen from our locked room while we were having breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The hotel manangement had no sense of urgency and was seemingly unwilling to investigate or assist in a manner that would be considered fair, considering the circumstances. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

Didn't like this hotel very much

from Solange72
Stayed at this hotel in early July. We booked a room at this hotel because the suites were affordable. Positives: Extremely well located, good fitness center with nice terrace, affordable suite. Negatives: Abominable elevators (sometimes 15 minutes wait because the elevators were tiny and the hotel was very full); room decor painfully opposite of good feng-shui; somewhat yucky bathroom in some areas; so-so bed; semi-professional staff a little rough around the edges. Will never stay there again.

Great value - nice place to stay

My family has stayed at this hotel five times in the past several years. The staff is quite courteous and goes out of its way to assist us. Any concerns (always minor) are addressed quickly and efficiently. The rooms are clean and have been recently updated. Free WiFi Internet service is icing on the cake. We will be staying there again this summer and also in December. Given the price, quality and location, I don't need to look anywhere else when visiting Montreal.

No Help with cases

We arrived at the fourpoints at about 10pm having trouble with closed roads on the way to Montreal. On arrival there was no bell captain and was told I would have to help myself to a trolley for the cases so with two small children one in a pram the other falling asleep we had to struggle to the eighth floor, but there was someone to valet park the car the room was fine clean and room service was quick and the food was good. Just a shame with the attitude of deal with your own cases.

Good price, shame about the service

Booked this hotel as member of starwoods preferred guests and rates offered were good. Service nothing special, they have a self park deal with the delta hotel across the road but not once could the front desk at the 4 points give me a valid ticket to leave parking lot - tried 4 different tix! Was a pain as they were charging me for parking. Suite was nice and spacious, had just been refurbished and free wifi was good. If you want good and attentive service though this ain't the place, otherwise OK.

A good stay

After reading the other comments, I felt compelled to write. I stayed at the Four Points in January and thought that it was a perfectly fine hotel. The rooms were clean and room service was extremely prompt.

There is not a pool but there is a nice fitness room and the restaurant was surprisingly better than one may expect. Above all, it is a centrally located hotel with a courteous staff and a good mid-priced option. If you want more than that, than go to a higher rated hotel.

Lastly, a plus is that the Sheraton has a strong reputation for service so if there is a problem, they should address it right away.

Expected a little more

We stayed here for New Year's weekend. What a mistake. It happened to be a weekend when a lot of American students were up partying; normally wouldn't have so much a problem with this, but they were up every night at 4-5 AM causing a commotion in the hallways and thus made sleeping rather difficult (we were also woken up one night at 4:30 AM by a couple next door having a domestic dispute; not classy). When we wanted to take a shower in the morning, we found that they had installed the control incorrectly and as a result, we had no hot water. We had to call twice for them to finally come up and fix this. Very annoying after a sleepless night. Another morning, we clearly had a do not disturb sign on our door, were not scheduled to check out until a few days later, and housekeeping still came knocking at 9AM to see if we were checking out that day; extremely not cool. Overall the hotel's ammenities were fine but the incidents above made it not a positive experience. Perhaps it was just the room, just the weekend, or just our bad luck.

A Pleasant Stay

We stayed here during the Grand Prix 2002. We had previously stayed at the Delta across the street.

We checked in after having reserved a nonsmoking room. There were none upon our arrival (this is quite typical). We called down and received a call back, after the second message. They brought a reverse osmosis (?) machine to clear the air - which worked.

The beds were comfortable and the stay was pleasant. The coffee shop that is adjacent had good deals for breakfast and it was within a few blocks of the Metro.

The only issues we had was parking has to be valet and the balconies don't work - the door has been drywalled over. There is no pool on site either but for race fans spending most of the day at the track, this was not an imposition.

Do not go to this place

The place looks really bad as a hotel, the service is the worst I ever seen, room service last time took 90 minutes to deliver couple of bottles of beer.
