Historical Traveler Reviews Four Points by Sheraton Destin- Ft Walton Beach Fort Walton Beach

      Four Point Sheraton WAS ROCKIN!

      from

We recently stayed at the Four Point Sheraton with our 3 children. The hotel is very kid friendly but also caters to the younger crowd. I am 30 and had a great time and so did my kids. There was a Karaoke pool party both days on the weekend and the staff was wonderful! We received free breakfast buffets with our room and the dinner buffet is more than worth the money! We usually get beach side rooms when we travel but our room was facing the inside garden area and we were close to the pool and bar. We will request that room every time now because of the convenience and ease of location.Wow! What a wonderful trip!

      Great place

      from

This was a great place to stay. We had a room overlooking the gulf and that was very enjoyable. Roomy rooms. Furniture in good repair. Good place to eat at hotel. Swimming was fine. Great hot tub. Fitness area OK, but not optimal.

One of the Best Experiences Ever at a hotel

      from

This Hotel was BEAUTIFUL ! If you are looking for a terrific hotel that is ABSOLUTELY clean, staffed with the best employees (they had so many employees i cant see how they afford to pay them all ). The grounds were extremely pleasant, and the atmosphere even better. The breakfast in the mornings was SUPER, and free at that. The Prime Rib supper was just okay, i wouldnt recommend it, especially at $20 a person. I reserved a Pool view room, but upgraded to the Ocean view. I would STRONGLY recommend the Ocean View if you are going for serenity and peace as often as possible. Even though you are in the room a limited amount of time, the extra time of sitting on balcony absorbing the mighty Ocean , and watching the Dolphins play every morning in the sea, was worth the little extra expense to see it all. This hotel has only limited activites for children. We wish they had more things for kids to enjoy. Overall this place, its amenities, its friendly staff, its scrumptous breakfast, and the location, will definitely bring me back.

      Just got home!

      from

I absolutely loved staying in the the Four Points hotel! I just got back today and had an awesome time. The food at the Plantation Grille is awesome! The rooms are wonderful and so is the pool. I've even stayed in this hotel when I was younger with my family. I'm sure I'll stay in it everytime I go down to Ft. Walton Beach. I recommend it to everyone!

      Not the best sleep ever!

      from

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton in Ft. Walton while he was at Eglin on business. The hotel rooms were supposedly newly re-decorated and re-furnished. The only thing that really looked new to me was the bedspread and the wall paper. The mattresses were horribly soft and lumpy. Both my husband and I both were sore from sleeping on them. The sinks and countertops looked extremely old, and the lighting looked old and dated. Other than the inside of the rooms, the rest of the hotel was great. The pools are good, the breakfast is fantastic (although, I thought free breakfast meant free breakfast...you have to pay for juice), and the landscaping was pretty. I doubt I'd stay there again.

      For the $$, I'd find a condo.

      Wonderful experience

      from

We just got back and I didn't want to come home. The hotel is right on the beach and the beach is amazing. The staff was friendly and I cannot say how good it is to wake up to such a lovely breakfast every morning. It was such a clean enviroment and there were families everywhere. Usually when kids are around you can hear the noise, but the rooms blocked out every noise. We had a private balcony overlooking the beach and I will never forget the view. I highly recommend this spot for the person who is looking for relaxation, fun and an overall lovely time.

      Great Hotel For The Family

      from

This is the best hotel!! They keep the whole family in mind when it comes to entertaining. There are activities for the kids, parents, grandparents, etc. The view of the beach is great. The hotel is very well managed, always clean, and the grounds to the property is beautiful. The staff are excellent, very attentive to needs\wants of the guests. We would not dream of going anywhere else. Keep up the good work guys!!!!

      Great, but...

      from

This is a very nice motel but the matresses are too soft and gave me a back ache, the matress board that was brought in helped very little. The staff was curtious esp the grounds crew and housekeeping. The staff in at the breakfast bar was great and the food was great. Beautiful view at ocean side rooms and pools and grounds were great.

      Spring Break 2002 Review

      from

Spring break routine at this hotel is well managed

and entertaining. Gulf water this time of year could use a few degrees, but if you're accustomed to

the Cape on Labor Day or the Michigan dunes,

this beach is worth the time and money.

Hotel scenery includes mostly southern collegians

with mild antics, and a few sweet things starting

on a new season of sun. Excellent pier a few steps away and water sports make this a fine establishment.

Plan on venturing down the beach myself in 2003 to check out some new scenery at other hotels that may offer better value.

Can't go wrong here if you're with friends.

      Nice Family Spot

      from

A clean, well maintained hotel right on the beach.

Includes two nice pools with jacuzzis, play area, and work out room. Breakfast buffet (not just continental) was included, and all staff were courteous and professional. I would recommend staying beachfront in the 6 story tower. I stayed in room 427 which has a kitchenette, 2 queen beds, and a living area. There is an enormous balcony overlooking the beach and the larger of the two pools. This is on the southwest side of the building, so you also get sunset views. I would recommend rooms 327, 427, 527, or 627 if you like the sight and sounds of the surf. All in all a nice place. We stayed 5 nights and paid 170/night in early September. Hotel was busy, but not a madhouse. Some days it felt as if we had the place to ourselves. Traveled to nearby Destin (10 minutes east) for dinner every night....AJ's, Harry T's, Fisherman's Wharf were good, and Bruster's for icecream was outstanding. Old Bay Steamer in Fort Walton near the hotel has a load of crab legs and shrimp for about 18 bucks.....

      enjoy.

... planned to do the same on Saturday morning but the wind shifted and increased so we decided to walk instead. We have been walking pretty reguarly 4-5 miles per day and this one was about 5.5 miles. The rain began shortly after our return and has not let up except for a few minutes here and there. Saturday I went out to refill water, and see another movie then got back early.

Today (Sunday), it is pouring rain off and ...

After a grueling five days of driving, it was time to find a nice campground and hang out for a few days. My plan was to stay at the state park on the beach near Destin. But the polar vortex spoiled things, so I found an RV park near Pensacola instead. The temperatures were in the 30's at night, and although it was only in the 50's during the day, at least it was sunny! I enjoyed a walk on the beautiful beach and a couple fantastic sunsets over the ...

... we drove around the area and checked out the beach and walked on the pier. What we noted was that the beach sand is very white and very fine, almost like sugar. While on the pier, we saw a couple sea turtles, but no fish or dolphins. We then drove into Fort Walton Beach looking for what they call their historical district, but never found what we would want to get out and ...

... for. Thank goodness no snake bites.

Once again the sun was going down as we arrived in Shepard. We turned onto Shraderville road and headed to the B&B. It was closed.... Losing light and not having any camping options, we decided to find a nice looking house and ask if we could pitch a tent on their yard. Heading back up Shraderville RD, we saw a woman outside her house calling off what seemed to be an extremely vicious dog. ...

... two wonderful friends from college. They are in the midst of opening a restaurant in New Orleans called 1000 Figs. We helped them assemble their walk-in cooler. It really took four helping hands to get that old and used fridge back together. After we headed for food southern BBQ and got down to talking about the fine details of the evening. What to be for Halloween!!! Going into a used clothing store which was still open, we started brain storming. Fortunately, New Orleans is known ...
