Restaurants menu is a little to be desired. And service levels have dropped since I was last there. But over all a nice hotel. Not too much to do close to the hotel.

A day of rest in Mauritius

... said our goodbyes all around and wished everyone well.

One carload of ladies drove north, while Marjolaine and I drove south and east through the sugarcane fields back by the airport and to Mahébourg where we found our little hotel. It was a windy, and rainy evening in Mahébourg, but we walked down waterfront road to a French restaurant on the waterfront called Les copains d’abord, named after a famous song by Georges Brassens. It ...

      ... our guide took the
easygoing way, which led us to CurePipe. In a short time we reached
the famed volcano. The observation parking lot was both busy and
full, and from there we followed a stone pathway until the hills
began to open up before us. Standing on the ledge, I looked down to
the bottom. The crater was filled with water, and bright green algae
were clinging to the rocks around it. Behind us, we looked up higher
to see the mountains which ...

Spent the day just the 4 of us. Koong Koong was a bit under the weather and may be having a cold. We went to Rose Hill first. Saw Mme Atcha in the arcade where we were getting lunch. Not sure if she knew who i was for sure but I stopped her and we chatted for a few minutes. She is still working with children with disabilities! We stopped by the snack place on royal rd and saw Sabine. She works in her restaurant. She was actually making pao. Before that we went to St ...

First time we had breakfast and there is a massive choice. We tried the egg lady and both had omelettes. Looking forward to trying everything else over the week! We met with our hotel rep this morning and she convinced us to book two trips, one full day exploring the south and a half day to port Louis and the botanical gardens. Today we decided ...

... to some Chinese fishing boats and then to the center of Port Louis. The Barclay’s Bank ATM in Mauritius remembered me from Ghana, greeted me and gave me 200 Maurtian Rupees ($7.00). Yeah, I know that’s not a lot of money, but it’s all I asked the machine for. (Maybe Caitlin was right when a few weeks ago in a rare burst of teenage behavior, she said that her parents were mean, frugal and boring). We ...
