... that there were many Chinese artifacts and it really shows that there has been an ongoing relationship between China and Mauritius since centuries ago. It is also a little bit ironic because there was a room just to show off the Chinese artifacts that this family acquired when they lived there because things in China used to be so expensive... Now it obviously still is, duh.

Dress: In Mauritius, religion plays a big part on how you dress. The Muslims in Mauritius, dress the same as they would in Western countries. Hinduists dress in saris as the women would usually do. The older generation is very firm with traditional dressing. With the increasing number of tourists coming to Mauritius, the trousers, shirts and shorts are slowly growing through the island. Finally we were dropped off at the shopping mall to have time to wander around on our own. We got Sandy to take us to the markets which was an interesting experience. Restaurants menu is a little to be desired. And service levels have dropped since I was last there. But over all a nice hotel. Not too much to do close to the hotel.
