The town wanted to build a larger facility but could not get the jays franchise to contribute any money into the project threatening, even at that time to head to Phoenix! and the smaller town was stretched to its limits so could only build the present stadium seating just over 5000 seats...they are sold out most spring training seats ...but in talking to many visitors who can't get ...

      ... like oranges and grapefruit. They have great short films and displays worth checking out.
      Oddly enough you don't see much transit activity anywhere down here...seems to be very much a car culture with everyone driving and very little carpooling it seems..
      There are many restaurants around the few blocks and we chose to eat dinner at Thai Thani....Pad Thai ,spring rolls and an peppered steak stir fry filled the void! ...

      ... the waterfront/shops. Denise brought fudge. This towns claim to fame is sponges. It is known as the sponge capital of the world and apparently provides 70% of the sponges sold around the world. We did a short boat tour and got the history of sponge diving and experienced how they are harvested.

      Down from Lake City to Palm Harbor to Cousin Jean and husband Jim's home in a major rain storm. First time for any precipitation since we left Michigan Jan. 9. Looking forward to being semi-stationary for awhile. Have tee times for Saturday and Sunday in our old neighborhood in Bradenton.
