12F when we awoke can't imagine what 75F even feels like any more. Packed up the car and headed to the airport with our car and house sitter Miss Elizabeth in tow. Our flight was delayed slightly by de-icing however we were soon in the air and heading to warmer climates. Checked in at the hotel (bags all arrived!) ...
... for Tel Aviv on Sunday :) I found out yesterday I'll be living in an apartment with 10 other people. It's going to be insane and beautiful. My work is less than half a mile from my apartment, so I can walk or bike there in less then 10 minutes. I'm super relieved! But before that comes, I'm off to spend a couple days in the big city. Sending love and kisses to all of you. Know that I carry you with me where ever I go.
Monday morning we left the cottage and headed south to Toronto and then across the border into Michigan. The border crossing was an hour-long affair, sitting high on the bridge that spans the water connecting Lake Erie and Lake Huron. The drive to Detroit was through many small towns and for the most part visually uninteresting. And we landed in Troy around 5 PM in time for happy hour at the Drury Hotel.

... now and then, we'll get a string of folks who have either have low senses of humor or an entirely different sense of humor than we do.
We visited a youth theater group who performed a song from Seussical for us...they were polite but pretty quiet during John's performance, so we cut it a bit short and moved on. After that, we went to a senior center, where three kids were visiting their grandparents...John put on an impromptu show for them ...
