Blue Mountains
Blue Mountains trip today and any remains of stormy weather have passed leaving bright blue skies from the outset.
Led by our tour guide Nick, a group of around 15 of us set off in the minibus out of Sydney and towards the Blue Mountains. It's a relaxed trip with a mix of couples, backpackers and a couple of solo travellers. Proof it's a …
Bondi!
No early rise this morning, our alarm is an unwelcome interruption and perhaps evidence any lingering jet lag has truly passed and our concentrated efforts to achieve as much as we can may be beginning to take their toll!
A look out the window over the harbour shows promise, a degree of cloud but no rain. After breakfast we walk the short …
I can see clearly now...
Tuesday morning in Sydney brings further grey skies and light rain but we are determined not to let it 'dampen' our spirits and head out for a walk along Darling Harbour to the tourist information centre to pick up some maps of the city and leaflets on various places and activities.
We are hopeful the weather will improve a little over …
Sydney better than Melbourne...
Ahhhhh.....Sydney!
I purposely returned to Sydney for two main reasons: to visit friends I had made during my first visit four months earlier, and to do my favourite walk along the cliffs from Bondi to Coogee Beach.
You already know about the Melbourne and Sydney rivalry - hence the fotos of the pillows. You will have to make …
Sydney stopover
Sydney has so much to offer and so I usually make a stop-over when traveling via there. Our hotel on this trip was Four Points Sheraton overlooking Darling Harbour. But we traveled all over even to the Rocks and Circular Quays ferry terminal.
The Darling Harbour area is well provided with good quality hotels most within easy walking …

TravelPod Member ReviewsFour Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour Sydney
Well situated for Darling Harbour and a short way from the PO Cruise Terminal. Good quality features and amenities and would recommend to others. But there are plenty of equal or similar quality in the area so you have plenty to choose from.
Rooms are not the main criteria for me as we are usually out and about and do a lot on foot in places like Sydney - we are happy to just relax with a coffee and biscuit after a 10-12 hour day.

Historical Traveler Reviews Four Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour Sydney
Comfortable!
I was brought to Four Points as a surprise birthday present by my boyfriend last year. We stayed for one night and though it was a short stay, the staff were helpful when asked. It could do with more smiling faces and greetings to guests but all in all it was an enjoyable stay. Very convenient location, just a short walk across the bridge to Star City Casino, restuarants and clubs in Sydney harbour. We had an awesome view from our room. Recommended. A++
Great location, helpful staff
I stayed at the Sheraton Darling Harbour in August 2003.
The location is very beautiful. It's (as the name states) right on Darling Harbour with a lovely view of the water, the aquarium, and shops and restaurants.
The staff was extremely helpful. Especially the concierge who took 20 minutes of his time to detail on a map all the sights we wanted to see, and the best ways to get there. Yes, this is his job - - however, I felt he took great care with our wants and needs and didn't try to rush us off.
Yes, this hotel is quite expensive, but we had a free stay after accumalating enough Starwood preferred guest points (after staying at another Starwood hotel - The Westin Maui, which I also loved). But were treated just like paying customers...with the upmost respect and courtesy.
I would definently recommend this hotel.
Burglarized at Sheraton
We decided to try out the Four Points by Sheraton, Sydney, Australia for its convenient location around the beautiful Darling Harbour area but the whole experience was soured by an incident of burglary in our hotel room. The incident happened the evening before our checkout date while we were out enjoying a tour to Blue Mountains. The hotel management and the staff were NOT helpful at all to the point of being rude to us. The Hotel Management insisted that their staff have not entered the room in our absence but was NOT able to explain the missing articles when there was no sign of forced entry into the room.
No compensation or complimentary stay was offered to take care of the stolen passport/tickets to get back home, leave alone the notebook computer, camcorder and other valuables.
On last six years of business & pleasure travel around the world, nothing like this has ever happened to me. No one likes to be treated like an 'unpreferred guest' after an incident like this. Only lesson I have learnt out of this is that, don't let your guard down because you are staying at a high-end Hotel like Sheraton in a supposedly safe city like Sydney, Australia. Take all precautions to safeguard your belongings, especially your passports & tickets. May be buy hotel burglary insurance (some credit cards offer it for free) and stay at some intermediate chains that are far cheaper than hotels like Sheraton. Don't trust Sheraton's or Starwood hotel's marketing slogans of 'exceeding the customer expectation' because when it is really needed it will NOT be there for you. You don't want to feel helpless as we did at that time.
First time to Australia, Very happy with Four Points
This was our very first time to Australia. We were very happy with our room at Four Points Sheraton, Darling Harbour. Our visit was the end of January, 2004. It was exactly as promised. Great view, no smoking room on a no smoking floor. Close to the cruise boats, downtown, and a reasonable walk to other areas. Only down side, the prices were a little high in the restaurant, but the food was first class. Everybody was more than helpful. Will we stay there again...YES!
Big disappointment
Stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton end of December 2004 and was disappointed with the service. I requested a non-smoking room on the upper floor (harbour view) but when I checked-in I was told by the unfriendly front desk staff that there are no non-smoking rooms available on the upper room floors. My boyfriend and I end up with a smoking room on a lower floor and when the lift opened to this floor, the smell of cigarette smoke was over-powering, we felt nauseated. Can't complain about the view from the room's balcony because it was really great, the balcony glass doors are noise proof, and the room was clean and spacious. Buffet breakfast was good but I would not rate it as outstanding. Our main complaint was the air-conditioning in the restaurant was at full blast that by the time we have gotten around the buffet table and were ready to eat our brekkie, the hot food on your plates' gone cold. Checking out was another disaster, the queue was so long, again very unfriendly staff. For the price I paid, I would have stayed in another hotel. Considering I am a Starwood Preferred Guest, I expected better service from this hotel. The only consolation was the fact that a few meters away from the hotel is the great Tony Roma's restaurant.
Excellent location
Excellent location on the harbor, next to the aquarium, a short walk (across the Pyrmount bridge) to the Maritime museum and an easy walk to both the convention center and the Imax. Dozens of shops and restaurants within a short walk in Cockle Bay wharf, King St. wharf and Harborside. 2 min. walk to the monorail station.
Room was small (European size) but clean and wel lappointed. Excellent bath with great shower (real water pressure!) Breakfast was pricey, but had a lot to choose from. Not at all like a "4 points" in the US, which tends to be 'no frills'. Highly recommended.
The most wonderful Valentines Dinner
No better way to top off our Valentines Day other than dinner at the Four Point Sheraton, where a Seafood Buffet dinner with many surprises made our evening unforgettable. Staff were very friendly & nothing was too much trouble. 5 star service with 5 star quality food. Thank you for making our evening so special !!
Good location for the Four Points by Sheraton
this is a response to an earlier review indicating that the location was too far away from the Circular Quay, etc.
it is a wonderful location to Darling Harbour, Chinatown, the monorail and harbor cruises and an easy walk to the downtown mall!
the only "down" comment would be more reasonably priced breakfast options.
A recent stay
We recently stayed at the Four Points Sheraton, 20-23 January and found the hotel to be quite accommodating in many ways, particularly the employees who serve as concierges. They helped my wife and I with several suggestions on activities and restaurants in the city. On the other side of the coin, we found the room on the small side and it would be nice to have bed covers turned down and towels replaced in the evening. The hotel location is a bit of a walk from the more active Circular Quay area of the beautiful city.
Simply ideal!
We stayed at the Four Points during our honeymoon in February. Our reception to the hotel was a complimentary room upgrade, and things looked up from there.
The hotel's location is excellent, right next to shops and restaurants in Darling Harbour, and within walking distance (although a long walk) to the Quay and The Rocks.
The hotel is very modern, very clean and full of light. The room was very comfortable and spacious, with a great view of the Harbour.
Our only meals in the hotel were the breakfast buffet, which was served in the restaurant next to the lobby, and was very good, and very complete.
