... monument is fantastic, it is free but we recommend getting tickets in advance to avoid the queues, especially in winter when you queue outside in the freezing temperatures. The monument was the tallest structure in the world in it's day and a marvel of engineering at the time. After this we got dropped off by the coach near to the Smithsonian Museum which is made up of several different buildings, not all in Washington. We went to the National gallery of art, the Air and space museum and the American Indian museum. ... hindered by a bad tummy (not from the food from the flight!!) we took it easy and (obviously) went to alyssas friends house party! They had all been drinking pretty much all day so were suitably drunk and we got told we were pretty badass for travelling America alone haha so true !! We played beer pong and watched the other big drinking game in America called slapcup... Not quite sure I understand it but Looked really funny... We came home and I fell straight asleep ...

... of a turkey dinner with an oyster bake. It was really great to see a typical family Thanksgiving which would be very similar to our Christmas dinner. The similarity ended with desserts though as pies are the done thing here with apple, pecan or pumpkin on offer. They do so much with pumpkin here from pies, to toasted seeds on salads or add it to make a traditional fall (autumn) coffee. The kids played games in the evening ...
