... all over in the Lincoln Library) - then spent awhile in the renovated 4 block area of his home there - quite a few old homes (mid-1800s) and beautifully landscaped grounds, maintained by the Park Service, right in the middle of the city.   It was in the 90's again and we had to bring the dogs along since we obviously couldn't leave them in the truck - we sought out shade trees on grassy plots and took turns going inside places.

Despite having told Mom many times over the past months that we'd be there for Thanksgiving and her 90th Birthday - she was surprised to see us...there are good things to be said for loss of short-term memory late in life, one of them being that every day is full of surprises! Mom doesn't get upset or frustrated by these surprises, she truly enjoys them, over and over again - so that's a good thing! Thanksgiving Day at my Sister ...

Flight arrived in DTW on time. I had lunch and cigarettes at the FOX Sports Bar. Spent the next two hours at the lounge before going to the gate. Unfortunately, our flight was running late. We left 45 minutes behind schedule.

... maybe I just don't remember those jittery feelings and only the memories of what I have seen. I am prepared for this trip...with internet and ATMs everywhere nowadays, it's hard to forget anything too essential. I will try to blog here often along the way so that I don't forget any exciting details or moments. I am once more returning to the southern hemisphere. Only good memories thus far there.
